b345··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Reminds me of this joke: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42963542
b345··on Making Startups Powerful
Correct. If you're powerful, you already have several advantages over your competitors unrelated to customer/consumer success (like network effect, owning the path the money flows through etc.)
b345··on CIA funding helped keep NeXT afloat in the 80s
I literally Ctrl + F-ed 'capitalis' to find a comment that says the iPhone (the poster child of capitalism on the internet) too wasn't really a product of capitalism. Funny that this triggered a bunch of downvotes.
b345··on GPT 5.6 Sol is the best "vision" model OpenAI ever released
I've been using Qwen3.5-9B, hosted locally for PDF data extraction and it performs pretty well when extracting data from tables and infographics
b345··on Prevent cognitive debt by manually retyping LLM-generated code
Yes, but also not necessarily good code(according to some). A lot of people don't buy into the "code should be optimised for reading" stuff.
b345··on San Francisco: Don't Fall for Industry Defense of Surveillance Pricing
It is because you're on the side benefitting from it. It doesn't benefit the consumer or the working class.
b345··on OverpAId – Fire your CEO. Hire the future
It also depends on whether you're providing appropriate compensation for the responsibility that you're offering. I see several cases where managers offer more responsibility for a peanuts' worth of pay hike and then say the same stuff you said.
b345··on The lost joy of music piracy
If there was a mainstream way of supporting artists directly and having permanent ownership of music, piracy would be punching down and could possibly be a taboo practice. But as the current order stands, its punching up and fucking the suits more than artists and I really like that.
b345··on The lost joy of music piracy
Funny because that is exactly how capitalism works.
b345··on Iran stops negotiations with U.S., vows to 'completely' block Strait of Hormuz
When I say most people, I mean most people. Media reports of polling data: - https://yougov.com/en-gb/articles/52279-net-favourability-to... - https://news.gallup.com/poll/702440/israelis-no-longer-ahead... - https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2026/06/01/an-inside-job-... - https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/italy-japan-most-people-h...
b345··on Your phone is about to stop being yours
If they're not surveilling what apps are being sideloaded, why is the bypass managed by google play services? There are at least 2 better options: - An option to not install the update which would fuck with my device - An option to use the OS layer instead of google play services for this fuckery. i disable gplay services the moment I get my hands on a new phone.
b345··on Why the US Navy won't blast the Iranians and 'open' Strait of Hormuz
What makes you think what the US, most probably at the behest of occupiers of Palestine, is going to do wonders for sentiment of the general public towards the US military industry? The anti-military sentiment is justified and will probably grow as more people wake up to the terrorising and dual faced nature of the US.
b345··on PC Gamer recommends RSS readers in a 37mb article that just keeps downloading
I do. I have turned off UBlock Origin at the learnopengl site as well others where the ads are unobtrusive enough to not block the view completely or require several actions on my part to view the contents. It also helps that the content is not "SEO optimised" bullcrap.
b345··on $96 3D-printed rocket that recalculates its mid-air trajectory using a $5 sensor
Holodomor was the result of several unfortunate events including the Ukranian kulaks burning their produce to protest collectivisation, a natural famine and misjudgement of the State.

If the responsibility of Holodomor lies solely with the USSR, the nexus between the NATO and occupied Palestine are responsible for at least a billion deaths, going by your intellectual honesty standards. I have factored in death due to military interventionism, gun laws, and capitalism related deaths (death from being uninsured, hunger, poverty).

b345··on $96 3D-printed rocket that recalculates its mid-air trajectory using a $5 sensor
The Russian revolution is not a good example if you are talking about the October revolution. It cannot be stated objectively that it turned out to be worse, and, in fact, for many replacing the czars with the Bolsheviks led to a lot better living conditions.
b345··on Polymarket gamblers threaten to kill me over Iran missile story
How does one say that a media worker is fair game, but a journalist is not? Both are classified as civilians under international law [1]. There are several airstrikes as the method of execution of these journalists as well. Good job cherry-picking the "favourable" examples. Also, I don't know what you're on about, but ICC is clearyly investigating Israeli war crimes of targeted journalist executions [3]. b345··on India orders smartphone makers to preload state-owned cyber safety app
GoI has not clarified anything. The Telecom Minister has only provided verbal clarification, that too, after the issue gained traction on the internet.
b345··on India orders smartphone makers to preload state-owned cyber safety app
A state intervention in the form of mandatory app installation that no user can deny is a danger, especially given that the current government has allegedly used cyber surveillance to plant "evidence" in the computers of dissidents like Stan Swamy who subsequently died in custody.
b345··on Canva’s affinity strategy: Normies over power users
DaVinci Resolve is on Linux and so are a lot of good free software like Krita, Blender etc.
b345··on Seattle Amazon workers plan walkout over return to office, layoffs
Why should it be when you can be laid off even when the corporation is making record breaking profits
b345··on A digital payments revolution in India
Getting cash is hard where there are no ATMs and you aren't offering any services
b345··on Google to reduce workforce by 12k
Nope, pretty sure Google is not the one being milked here.
b345··on The underground movement trying to topple the North Korean regime
Wish there was one for the US too.
b345··on South Dakota first to ban TikTok on state-owned devices
Anecdotal evidence. Maybe it's what you were recommended based on your watch history or other data points. YouTube recommends me anti-China content all the time.
