I have heard that it may reduce REM sleep. Consequently, many people who consume regularly then take a break will agree that after stopping they are flooded with more dreams than normal. They may be more intense, realistic, etc. But the effect subsides to normal quickly. Withdrawal is minor to non-existent for such people. Interesting!!
For now I love my 40mpg and low maintenance and insurance costs of a 10 year old hybrid Civic.
But you have to think about all the people who buy cars for other reasons...supposed signaling, the impression it gives others, devout brand loyalty, good old consumerism... There's just so many reasons that are "misguided" from a financial perspective, but logical from the personal perspective.
Also, think up some things you'd like to try while under the influence... Do you have a favorite album or movie? Many things may be found to be invigorating and enjoyable in a way you couldn't have described before.
They were bullying you by threatening to call the police. The cops would have been annoyed to show up for that, and nothing about what you did is illegal.
In the case that I do engage with such a business, I only tip when there is objectively individual work being done: Eating out at a table? Tip the waiter 15%. Waiter was extremely rude? Tip the waiter 0%. Picking up food at a counter after ordering online? Tip 0%. Bringing bags into a hotel? Refuse help so I don't have to tip.
I really wish tipped workers would just get paid an honest wage to begin with, meaning the true cost of labor would be baked into product prices!
