b1gtuna··on Qt 5.10 released
Is Qt a good, modern framework for desktop application development for a beginner? If not, can someone recommend something else?
b1gtuna··on The New York Times Is Now Available as a Tor Onion Service
I agree. NYTimes has led with technical prowess the past a few years.
b1gtuna··on Ask HN: Which games are you playing in free time?
Starcraft 2
b1gtuna··on T3X – a minimal procedural language
Ty for your input. Getting a copy :)
b1gtuna··on T3X – a minimal procedural language
Awesome. Getting a copy.
b1gtuna··on T3X – a minimal procedural language
Great thanks!
b1gtuna··on T3X – a minimal procedural language
Is the author of T3X reputable? I am about to drop $20 for the ebook, but I just want to be sure he has good basis on the subject.
b1gtuna··on T3X – a minimal procedural language
Cool, looks like I have something to read this weekend. I am glad their e-book caters towards people with little comp-sci / compiler design background.
b1gtuna··on Soylent Closes $50M Series B Round Led by GV
Congratulations.

I have been drinking Soylent 12 bottles a month. This alone has freed me up from thinking about what to eat for lunch.

b1gtuna··on An alternative to solid tantalum capacitors
Great article. Was not aware there is this much stigma around tantalum caps. There are times when I am forced to avoid ceramic caps for better high frequency handling. It looks like polymer is the way to go - better longevity and no ethical issues.
b1gtuna··on How a Water Bear Survives When It’s Dry
haha ya I was thinking the same thing! They are already here!
b1gtuna··on SHA-1 collider: Make your own colliding PDFs
Ya it was annoying - here is my output tho: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzPYSqARS6D6SUZUYS1p...
b1gtuna··on SHA-1 collider: Make your own colliding PDFs
Just tried it and it really got me the same sha1... damn...
b1gtuna··on Driverless Roborace car crashes at speed in Buenos Aires
Ya I was hoping for a video on the article itself. No footage of the actual crash =(
b1gtuna··on How to Set Up an OpAmp Circuit to Do Complex Mathematics
Thank you. I had a hunch that this would require a scope and a signal generator. And I have neither unfortunately.
b1gtuna··on How to Set Up an OpAmp Circuit to Do Complex Mathematics
Sounds like a fun weekend project. Any guide on how to actually put this together to run check the math?
b1gtuna··on Samsung chief Lee arrested as S.Korean corruption probe deepens
It sucks that it happened to you, but Samsung turning back on its partners is a known tactic in SK. The sad part is Samsung is probably not the worst of the bunch in that country.
b1gtuna··on Samsung chief Lee arrested as S.Korean corruption probe deepens
Also SK tried to impeach the president twice in the last decade. That's like two more than the US. In some ways it's a very democratic nation.
b1gtuna··on Autism detectable in brain long before symptoms appear
Thank you for sharing your story. As a guy who's about to get married, I began paying more attention to articles like this one. I am now ware that early diagnosis is important. I will make sure to see the right specialist if I suspect something.
b1gtuna··on Overlearning hyperstabilizes a skill by making processing inhibitory-dominant
"perfect practice makes perfect" - wow this comes as a revelation to me. Never realized how important it is to do it right - something very obvious but struck me by surprise when you put it this way.
b1gtuna··on Announcing GVFS: Git Virtual File System
MS has been doing really neat stuff lately. I never worked on a project that takes hours to clone. The largest repository I regularly clone is the Linux repo. It still takes only a few minutes. Yet I can see the GVFS being beneficial for me as I spend most of the time just reading the code (so no need to compile) on my laptop.
b1gtuna··on Apple already has several ARM powered laptops drifting around internally
I'd love to see a worthy competition to Intel.
b1gtuna··on Artificial Intelligence Graduate Certificate
Would anyone recommend this over doing a masters degree in the similar area of study but at a local university (ie. not Standford)?
b1gtuna··on Show HN: Making Your Music Choose Your Desktop Wallpaper
I would love to see this used widely, become some sort of a service and see improvements in the quality of the matching algorithm.
b1gtuna··on Google planning to bring AI and ML tools to Raspberry Pi
Glad I am not the only one who thought the article lacked real info.
b1gtuna··on What’s up with Firefox?
There were days when Firefox was my go-to browser. It was years ago. Right now Chrome is my #1 choice for daily driver. Opera seems to be doing pretty interesting stuff with Neon, so I keep an eye out for it and actually use it from time to time. Heck, I even don't mind using the Edge browser at work just because I actually really like the Microsoft Windows 10.

Now, Mozilla/Firefox has faltered in too many product deliveries in the past 5 years (I am mostly disappointed in their Firefox OS effort) while neglecting the browser. So the brand name no longer inspires me, whether or not the browser itself is good.

b1gtuna··on Silicon Valley’s Secret: Proximity, Stolen Parts, and the Kindness of Strangers
" I graduated 256 out of a class of 256 (at the University of Utah). That is, I had the most efficient degree possible. I got a degree, but I didn’t do one bit more than I needed to."

LOL!

b1gtuna··on Defending Against Hackers Took a Back Seat at Yahoo, Insiders Say
Google hired hundreds of security experts with 6 figure bonus... Is this kind of bonus norm in the Valley?
b1gtuna··on iPhone 7
I agree. I can't love an Android phone because I know it will take 3+ months get a new Android release (if it gets ever).
b1gtuna··on Philae Found
Haha itsy bitsy little space craft hiding behind a rock!
