azaslavsky··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2026)
Stoke Space | ONSITE in Seattle, WA / Moses Lake, WA / Cape Canaveral, FL | Software Engineer | Full-Time, Internship | Salary: $98k-$289k USD | https://www.stokespace.com

Company: At Stoke, we believe a thriving space economy will enable a vibrant, sustainable, and equitable future here on Earth. That is why we’re building Nova, our fully and rapidly reusable launch vehicle. Designed for daily flight, Nova tackles the core challenges of space transportation by reducing cost, increasing availability, and improving reliability. By radically lowering launch costs and increasing flight cadence, we’re helping create a truly scalable space industry.

Technologies: The team I'm on, Vehicle Software, makes a full in house control stack (firmware, flight computer, autonomy, ground support) in Rust. Data collected from our operations is served by a blazing fast front end written in Typescript, Svelte, and WASM, served by a Rust API. Our launch-day interface is in LabVIEW.

Roles: For full-time, we are currently hiring for a Rust-based controls engineer, a front-end engineer with experience in the stack above, and a strong software engineer with interest in working in both Rust and LabVIEW. We are also hiring software integration engineers in Kent and Moses Lake. On the intern side, we are currently looking for talented interns for our summer and fall 2027 classes (~14 week terms from March to September).

Couldn't you just take the advice in [0] of parsing into types rather than validating? Then you get the best of both worlds: your inputs are necessarily checked every time the function is called (they would have to be to create the type in the first place), but you don't need to validate them at every nested layer. You also get the benefit of more descriptive function signatures to describe your interfaces.

If that's actually how events played out, one hopes that Zuck would at least be able to appreciate the irony of his idea being stolen by a vendor he hired to implement it.

For those interested in these for other subways around the world, http://stations.albertguillaumes.cat/ has done a lovely job rendering them. It's impressive how many systems are covered.
