axljjn··on ADHD Accommodations Guide
As someone that is disabled, I feel like you’re hitting the most important points, but maybe generalizing a little about wanting to be treated normal.

More often than not, people have to accept the realities of their disabilities and not being treated normal is absolutely necessary for them to succeed. As for how to go about it, your last words are right on the mark.

> … be kind. Don’t make folks lives harder than they already are.

I’d add that if they don’t approach their manager/employer about accommodations, their superior should be very careful about how they offer assistance. It really shouldn’t be more than “Hey are you comfortable with your work environment? Is there anything I can do to help you be efficient?” And if they say no, that’s it. Say they can reach out anytime and you’re done.

axljjn··on Ask HN: How fast could you get a minimal working SaaS up and running?
Personally, I’d go with tools I already built with because that’s for my productivity’s sake and it’d take maybe a few weeks to get all the little details I care about taken care of.

Others here have answered this question more or less the same way.

Try https://www.saaspegasus.com/ if you‘re comfortable with Python/Django.

axljjn··on Show HN: I wrote a book on web application deployment
This is why I never look at the comments on ProductHunt.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Are you a Digital Nomad? If yes, what are the pros/cons?
I’m not, but I did try for a few months. I was tired of not knowing where things were or how to get to places. Some countries don’t allow American apps to work with the same functionality because they want to protect local corporations (Google Maps in Korea doesn’t work well). Locals aren’t always kind and will occasionally try to take advantage of you. I decided it wasn’t for me when a Thai taxi driver saw that I used a cane to walk and tried to charge me without turning the meter on.
axljjn··on Show HN: Railway – Configless Software Infrastructure
My guess is someone that serious is ready to be off the hobby tier.
axljjn··on Show HN: Railway – Configless Software Infrastructure
I’m not using Railway in production, but I have been using it as a test DB to learn some new tools. It was recommended in a Discord group after people were having issues with how Heroku rotates keys for the hobby tier. The UI was way more intuitive. Didn’t even have to reference the docs to get going.
axljjn··on Amazon’s AI cameras are punishing drivers for mistakes they didn’t make
$40k in depreciation. Cautious optimism that they’ll get it right eventually. Lifetime supercharging. All cars are dangerous and despite that one slightly irrational fear of passing that bridge, Teslas have the highest safety ratings. I was making more of a point on how their system to rate drivers isn’t as reliable as they think it is.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I have considered selling a few times.

axljjn··on Amazon’s AI cameras are punishing drivers for mistakes they didn’t make
I imagine a somewhat similar issue happening with Tesla soon. To get access to the beta FSD next week, you have to be deemed a “good driver” by their metrics confirmed via sensors and telemetry. There are so many false positives I get in a day it’s ridiculous. Whoever came up with the policy must not drive a Tesla. I’ve had my car engage emergency braking on the freeway because (I think) it got spooked by a bridge’s shadow. To this day, I’m still afraid of passing through that area.
axljjn··on Social media influencer/model created from AI lands 100 sponsorships
The article mentions scandals several times. Are scandals that common for celebrities in SK? They seem very confident in their ability to maintain their AI girl’s image. I wonder if they considered the Rule 34 folks.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Helping disabled people coding easily
I have an incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI). There’s a bunch of issues I got, but specifically for coding, my right hand is paralyzed enough where I gave up on using it. Luckily, my left is fine for the most part. What got me by was learning shortcuts, making my own, and getting a Stream Deck XL. After that it’s just about practice. My accident happened before I really got into coding, so I was about to give up, but just about everything sucks once you’re “disabled” and we just learn to live with it. Having people like you that care helps a lot.

There are tools like Alfred and newer ones like Raycast. Basic ergonomic stuff will help like mounting monitors. If there’s not much that can be done in one area, it’s worth focusing on making other areas easier to reduce the overall load.

Honestly, I would just ask politely. The person with the disabilities will know exactly where their pain points are. I met a bunch of guys with an SCI and it affects us all differently.

axljjn··on Show HN: Easier, Free Webflow
This is dope! I'd love to see any part of this open sourced. I've been wanting to try to build something just like this.
axljjn··on Show HN: Recreating GitHub og:images with React.js and TailwindCSS
Hi, I just took a look at Flayyer and am a little confused. Is Flayyer an app that developers can use locally for free and Flayyer.com is the hosted version for everyone else?

At first glance, it looks like a Canva for social sharing cards, but then as I scroll down it looks very developer focused with the React/Vue templating. I guess I'm having trouble understanding what the main proposition is. Is it primarily a consumer facing app or a tool for developers, both? Either way it looks super useful. Awesome work!

axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Never mind, learned that there's a time limit for editing.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Okay, that's reassuring. I'm starting to think I'm trying to do everything too well. I agree with your broader sense of productivity. I'm hitting most of my needs/wants everywhere else. It's mainly my work that seems to lag behind. It might be a combination of putting too many things on my plate and overestimating myself. I got my stress under control this last week thanks to following most of the tips given here. I'll spend this new week focusing on adjusting my expectations and workload to see if that helps. Maybe I've been rushing things.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Very informative. I got an Oura ring on the way because someone else recommended it here, so I should be able to get some data points soon. I was thinking about the relationship between stress and performance on my walk today. Isn't stress necessary to get better performance/results? For example, the stress of beating your mile time by one second. Is there good and bad stress? I'm seeing some hits on google, but I'm wondering if you have any insights on this. I took the week off like others have suggested and that has definitely helped with the stress, but I feel that being this relaxed is making it difficult to get into the zone.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Definitely will focus on this tomorrow. I always thought video games were addicting because of the bright lights and pleasant sounds you get from meeting a clearly laid out objective.I remember when I first started coding I went on a similar manic episode. Might be the lack of fulfillment and not doing a great job defining goals/milestones. Oh well, I'll figure it out soon enough. I hope you reach the level of productivity you're aiming for. Thanks to you and everyone else here I feel like I'm on the right track.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
I'm sure. I always look forward to sleeping. Got to to work on the mindfulness for sure though.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Awesome. I'm in San Diego and it's almost always nice out. I'm about to head out and get to it now that I'm done replying to everyone's tips. Thanks!
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
I promised myself I'd try whatever I can. I'll give it a shot. Thank you.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Part of my urgency to get things done is so I can afford the time and money to consider therapy. It's funny that by the time I can afford it, I'll probably have already solved my issue. Aww man, I made myself sad.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
I'm lucky enough to not be glued to social media. Sugar is definitely on the higher side. I'll add it to the list. Thank you.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
I'm going to try to push this towards the back of the list because I don't have health insurance... I was on antidepressants when I was severely injured and I do remember being in a fairly good mood in the months I stayed in the hospital despite my circumstances. I encourage anyone reading this in the future to consider this as a viable option.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
I am keeping busy, so i got that going for me. I do wish I had more driven people around me to vibe with. How important is blood pressure?
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Sounds good to me. Will do.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Been drinking more green tea and have been cutting out a lot of the alcohol. I'll try cutting it completely for a month. Thank you.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Out of all the things this is going to be the most difficult to do. I'll try. It's just so hard to feel like I deserve it. I'll just have to accept that taking legitimate leisure time is part of the job. Thank you.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
According to your list I'm on the right track. So that's reassuring.

Monitoring heart rate is new though. What do I do once I notice it rising? Try to calm down?

axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
A friend recommended "Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It" when I came to him about this. The kindness to self part was definitely an issue for me. I was not nearly as zealous as the author, but it did teach me to cut myself some slack. I have been doing all the conventional wisdom stuff like light exercise, eating better, etc. and they are working a little, but you're right. It doesn't feel like it's enough and that's why I came here. I'm going to go take a long walk and rethink what I really want and be honest with myself about whether it's realistic. Thank you.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Totally. It's a negative feedback loop. I need an efficient circuit breaker and the only thing I can really think of is Nike's "just do it." Why is it so hard? Feels like I'm hitting a wall. I've watched this video several times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo08uS904Rg and it helped me understand what part of the problem was, but it's still been hard getting things going. It might be an inspiration problem. I'm not proud of it, but during this lull I bought Animal Crossing on a whim and logged 200 hours in a month. I was able to wake up early, be super productive in that game with no caffeine and little food. I don't understand.
axljjn··on Ask HN: Tips for handling chronic stess?
Thank you, I'll take a look. When I was younger I used to lean towards Buddhist philosophy and Stoicism. This kind of reminds me of that. As I got older and toxic masculinity became trendy, I started to think that the old way of "it is what it is" and "man up" weren't healthy, but lately I've been thinking that I was better off that way. Things were a lot simpler and instead of dwelling or brooding, I just kept moving forward. I feel sometimes people are better off not knowing the variety of mental illnesses or dysfunctions out there. It's too easy to get into the trap of "is there something wrong with me?" Even when there is something a little bit off, the time agonizing about it can be a waste of time especially if there's nothing that can be done about it.
