awestroke··on Graphene Interconnects Aim to Give Moore's Law New Life
Let's hope the fab that pioneers this is not owned by Intel
awestroke··on ChatGPT Pro
Easy - don't trust the answers. Verify them
awestroke··on DELETEs Are Difficult
FROM, then WHERE, then SELECT
awestroke··on I Didn't Need Kubernetes, and You Probably Don't Either
I would buy that book in a heartbeat. All documentation and guides on kubernetes seem to assume you already know why things are done a certain way
awestroke··on With Core One, Prusa's Open Source Hardware Dream Dies
As I clearly stated, the open source aspect was the only advantage they had over Bambu. And now that advantage is gone, which means Bambu holds all of the advantages instead of all advantages except one
awestroke··on With Core One, Prusa's Open Source Hardware Dream Dies
Getting a bambu soon. Happy I didn't go for Prusa, as the open source aspect was the only advantage
awestroke··on My company has banned the use of Jetbrains IDEs internally
Believe it or not, ignorance is not the main reason people don't use emacs
awestroke··on We can now fix McDonald's ice cream machines
I don't see it. No single manufacturer deal they make will be worth enough to them to change their strategy or values. They also know from experience that companies withdraw from such agreements or deals without warning, so they can never rely on them
awestroke··on We outsmarted CSGO cheaters with IdentityLogger
The VGUI browser also allowed servers to steal the steam session cookies. So not a very hardened implementation at all.
awestroke··on [dead]
Yeah... No
awestroke··on Psilocybin bests SSRI for major depression in first long-term comparison
I wonder how much of an uphill battle it will be to get psilocybin approved for therapeutic use compared to synthetic psilocybin analogues that are being trialed right now. Psilocybin can't be patented and it's already scheduled as a narcotic everywhere.
awestroke··on The Copenhagen Book: general guideline on implementing auth in web applications
What's with the name?
awestroke··on Rust is rolling off the Volvo assembly line
There's a nightly build every night. There is a stable release every now and then. There are no official LTS releases. The question has been asked every now and then, but I see no real need for an LTS release. Just pick any version and keep using that specific version for as long as you want to. You could pick the same version as some LTS linux distro version.
awestroke··on An adult fruit fly brain has been mapped
Related: my favorite HN comment ever from a similar submission a year ago:

> There's lots of very exciting work going on around the fully mapped fruit fly connectome. For example, I'm a CTO of a stealth startup that aims to do for utilitarianism what carbon credits did for environmentalism. We are selling 'utility credits' which translates directly into us simulating trillions and trillions of fruit fly brains in a state of constant orgasmic bliss, which you can then buy to offset any actions your company has undertaken that damage global happiness or well-being. We've seen a lot of interest from some pretty large industry players.

awestroke··on Graph Language Models
The future is looking bright indeed for Addiction Severity Index
awestroke··on A Swiss town banned billboards. Zurich, Bern may soon follow
But won't somebody think of the shareholders????
awestroke··on A Swiss town banned billboards. Zurich, Bern may soon follow
worst take I've seen this week
awestroke··on Quantum is unimportant to post-quantum
That sounds very interesting. Where can I read more about QC over internet and how we’re getting closer to it?
awestroke··on Effectiveness of an walking intervention for the prevention of low back pain
Back extensions. Both normal and adjusted to target glutes. Slow controlled eccentric movement, pausing a second at maximum stretch between reps. Hitting the gym in general, but stay away from deadlifts.
awestroke··on Don't store your cucumbers in the fridge (2012)
“Cuces”…
awestroke··on The Tyranny of the Flake Equation
Coincidentally, nix flakes is a good way to reduce the flakiness of development environments
awestroke··on SoftBank's new AI makes angry customers sound calm on phone
Sounds like a great use case for AI. Dealing with angry customers all day must be hell for one's mental health.
awestroke··on Ilya Sutskever to leave OpenAI
Perhaps Altman will fail upwards once again to become CEO of Microsoft
awestroke··on Shell sold carbon credits for carbon that was never captured
Seems like that should be illegal for both parties. Throw Alberta government officials AND Shell execs in jail
awestroke··on Ice to treat soft-tissue injuries contraindicated by creator of protocol
And why do golfers not want hypertrophy exactly?
awestroke··on What John von Neumann did at Los Alamos (2020)
I would not want to live in a world where nobody opposes the US
awestroke··on Show HN: React Geiger – performance profiling using sound
So what?
awestroke··on RoR Debugbar
I definitely get that feeling as well. 80% ghost town
awestroke··on Automated Unit Test Improvement Using Large Language Models at Meta
Really? You could not come up with a way to avoid magic numbers?
awestroke··on Inside the proton, the ‘most complicated thing you could possibly imagine’
Still does not explain "why"
