avrionov··on Which kinds of GPT startups will thrive?
This is a good list, but most of these Unicorns were product of zero interest rates. The valuations are down, we just don't know how much and some of the companies on the list are already bankrupt like Voyager. Read here [1] about the astonishing rise of the unicorns in the last 3 years.

Also a billion $ unicorn is not the same as billion $ revenue.

avrionov··on Lyft to Cut at Least 1,200 Jobs in New Round of Layoffs to Reduce Costs
Uber revenue in 2022 was 31B. Lyft revenue was 4B. This is not duopoly. Lyft is much smaller, loosing 1.5B per year and the stock price crashed. They will have hard time to keep the employees and keep the drivers.
avrionov··on Lyft to Cut at Least 1,200 Jobs in New Round of Layoffs to Reduce Costs
They may survive, but it will be hard. A bug cut like this will destroy the morale in the company. What works in their favor is that the entire tech industry is cutting jobs right now and they don't look like an exception.

If the cuts are done well, they'll cut the most of the future projects and focus on a few key areas. Still it is a high risk for them and they may not survive.

avrionov··on Lyft to Cut at Least 1,200 Jobs in New Round of Layoffs to Reduce Costs
The cuts are huge:

- The latest cuts could impact 30% or more of Lyft’s more than 4,000 employees

- The cuts could help Lyft slash 50% of its costs

Your numbers show that the revenue is increasing, but the growth is slower, which is very different than the revenue is falling.

avrionov··on Lastpass Security Incident
The Verge has more information [1]

"This comes just months after LastPass confirmed that hackers had stolen some of its source code in August and had access to LastPass’ internal systems for four days before getting detected. avrionov··on Twitter to start layoffs -internal email
There are RSUs. When a company goes private, the RSUs convert to cash on the same vesting schedule. Of course the company can cancel them, but they usually keep the vesting schedule to keep the employees.

For the Twitter employees (if they keep their jobs and the RSUs are not canceled) this is a very good deal, because the stock price was really high due to the deal.

avrionov··on Musk’s inner circle worked through weekend to cement Twitter layoff plans
Usually, the RSUs are converted to cash and the RSUs schedule is kept the same. The workers which remain int he company receive cash on the same schedule.Hence Letting some people go before the RSU date saves money.
