autoexecbat··on Apple Vision Pro U.S. Sales Are All but Dead, Market Analysts Say
I'd happily buy one for $500, but $3500 is way too much
autoexecbat··on RISC-V AI Chips Will Be Everywhere (2022)

autoexecbat··on Testing AMD's Giant MI300X
AMD should be giving out these units to whichever clouds are willing to host them, so they can get them in the hands of developers to induce demand via working software
autoexecbat··on U.S. Senate passes bill to support advanced nuclear energy deployment
Some transmission issues are solved by local generation
autoexecbat··on A new RISC-V Mainboard from DeepComputing
I find it really surprising that SiFive doesn't come out with their own edition of this but with the latest cores, rather than a 3rd party with an old u74
autoexecbat··on How innovative is China in nuclear power?
This seems like a great thing for the environment (geopolitics aside)
autoexecbat··on Swift Static Linux SDK
I guess this means it can compete with golang on ease of distribution. Pushes all the complexity away from the end user
autoexecbat··on macOS Sequoia Preview
Just waiting for yet more of "Apple Arcade Free For 3 Months" style notifications
autoexecbat··on Microsoft Rolling Out New Windows Subsystem for Linux "WSL" Features for 2024

autoexecbat··on Hate Chatbots? You Aren't the Only One
> I have no trouble imagining scenarios in which I would prefer a chatbot

I'm baffled, which scenarios?

autoexecbat··on What went wrong with federal student loans?
There should be a limit on the loan size you can take out.

It's wild that you can take out 200k with no collateral

autoexecbat··on Startups on hard mode: Oxide. Part 1: Hardware
It's also easier to evaluate the execution competency of a hardware startup team
autoexecbat··on Why not just do simple C++ RAII in C?
Plenty of people struggle with simultaneous action for that. Generally doing one after the other within the same sitting
autoexecbat··on TSMC EUV machines equipped with remote self-destruct in case of invasion
> they've backed themselves into a corner with their rhetoric.

They could easily turn around and censor any mention of taiwan until everyone forgets about it

autoexecbat··on Clever code is probably the worst code you could write (2023)
I think most people would be thinking "hmm now I need to read what 'reduce' mean in this context"
autoexecbat··on Secret meeting between Apple and TSMC reported to reserve all 2nm capacity
It's also a big risk on Apple's behalf, as the node could have serious delays/problems
autoexecbat··on Who Wants 30k Used Teslas?
It really depends a lot on the input electricity price too, not just the gas price
autoexecbat··on Firefox search update
Is there a white-label firefox that I can install that has sane defaults?
autoexecbat··on Developing Palo Alto is worth $1T

autoexecbat··on Alternative clouds are booming as companies seek cheaper access to GPUs
At some point, nvidia does have to worry about amd getting their act together once they've annoyed all the current customers
autoexecbat··on Whistleblower Josh Dean of Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems has died
While a kilogram is kilogram, a pound has an accepted definition and plenty of unexpected ones.

Is it a troy pound, a tower pound, a london pound, a metric pound?

autoexecbat··on Show HN: Supertone Shift – AI powered Real-time voice changer
It could atleast have a time limit
autoexecbat··on I joined landlord groups to persuade them to be better people to their tenants

This can unfortunately mean maximal increases in rent each year, rather than someone who is just happy to have a good tenant who causes no trouble

autoexecbat··on Evidence of price-fixing in the oil industry?
PG&E makes electric-only a little scary. I'll keep 1 EV and 1 ICE car rather than going 2 EVs due to them
autoexecbat··on Whistleblower Josh Dean of Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems has died
An actual arrest seems wildly disproportionate for this. Simple administrative fines should have been enough
autoexecbat··on Takeaways from the Jane Street bond prospectus
I think it depends on if the targeted application is essential to your companies core buisness/product.

As an example, say if you're a small cloud vendor, you should probably write your own machine OS imaging automation, but probably not your own chat client.

autoexecbat··on The U.S. may be missing human cases of bird flu, scientists say
Of course we aren't. Testing is very abnormal.

Personally, I get daycare-related colds/flus all the time and don't go visit a testing center each time
