Gabriel and the team are really awesome and this product is a genius idea - I'll definitely be using it at my company as it could save us a ton of work in setting up our testing pipelines.

There are big tech companies that don't have QA people.
Surely one can be addicted even if it doesn't have negative consequences right?
I skimmed the article and thought I found it when I got to the section titled "Key points – How to know if you’re addicted", in the middle of the article; but again this section didn't give a list of things to look out for...
Maybe I missed it?
And then automatically generate the theme files for all these apps - now that would be simply amazing!

At least for me, since I maintain my own personal VSCode/IntelliJ theme
Great attention to detail and mastery, from what I can tell as someone who knows nothing of the subject!
(I'm honestly curious)
There's always the chance that they use a browser's user agent to disguise themselves but that should be easy to check.
They would be doing something seriously wrong if that wasn't always the case haha
If your company doesn't have the funding for expensive engineer salaries you can compensate with stock options and an exciting product people can believe in.
It means your career page needs to become a pitch, and your interview is most definitely going to be a two-way one where you need to convince the engineers.
Not everyone is after the money alone, a lot of people want to work on something with a mission they can get behind.
I remember doing it with friends, girls I liked... it's interesting how we're constantly looking for ways to communicate.
I don't see the difference between that and realising someone is a different ethnicity than you expected.
Racism is (by definition) prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism. Being surprised because someone looks different than you imagined is nothing like that.
TransferWise takes customer support extremely seriously with an in-house team of support reps who are trained in all of our features. On top of that each team may have one or more CS "champions" who are the bridge between product teams and customer support. These champions usually know the product inside-out, and are in slack channels with the dev teams.
So when an issue is not a customer misunderstanding something, and turns out to be an actual bug, the CS rep will work with the engineers to find a workaround, and to get a fix deployed as fast as possible - all while the customer knows exactly what's going on.
Bottomline is that I agree that customer support is hard, and very expensive. But it doesn't have to be broken, and I don't think it is at TransferWise (well, Wise now)
Nothing's stored at this point, chat's only live in memory while at least 1 user is there, and cleared after. Still trying to figure out what I'll do with it
I'll have a look around my area and try one post-lockdown, although I feel like it'd be so much easier to join if I already knew someone who went...
People used to go to church and do religious events and things sometimes during the week - this is all gone now, and I wish we had an alternative that didn’t rely on religion, just based on the local community somehow.
Community centers 2.0 or whatever, but a place where people have a reason to go. I can only think of classes which doesn’t quite work I think (hard to really get everyone there at the same time) but maybe it’s the key I have no idea!
And then it hit me, it was pretty much work haha
It's an online chat room where you'll find a small group to chat with (around 10 people) with the idea that nowadays it's hard to have a "meaningful" conversation with people in social networks.
It also does something I haven't really seen before which is showing what people are typing in real time, to help make it feel more "real time"! Come try it :)
If you come back it'll try to match you with people you have met before, so that even it became popular it would "feel" like a small community of people.
Still trying to work out the user experience to make this work though, which is why I haven't done a proper launch
Ffs is that never going to go away?
I don’t actually know what to say as encouragement but I do feel for you :(
I was in a similar position to you on your last job, and after looking at every single company I could think of in my city (London) I ended up finding just one that seemed good in all possible counts...
Maybe there is a company out there that you’d like to work for? My approach was to filter by the product, and only look into working for companies whose end product I thought was good and interesting.
Best of luck and don’t give up!!
Adjusting based on average monthly salary in Bangladesh (157$) [1] and the US (4056$) [2] that would be similar to an American making 5.2$/hour which is surprisingly close to the current minimum wage in the US (7.25$/hour) [3]
So I guess this must be a fairly decent way to earn money if you're young/poor in Bangladesh...

This satisfies the need to be on HTTPS, without actually having to change anything in your server.
Not saying this is ideal, but for websites that don't _need_ it it could be the best/easiest approach.
