aulrich··on Show HN: A tool to display your NFTs on your Twitter Profile
I spent my summer learning about web components and rebuilt my image-template editor as such; This was the first try at using my own SDK and applying it onto a small product (and ofc I found 1000 things to add for my future customers :) )

..

This little tool combines image generation, NFTs and flexing on Twitter

• It fetches the latest NFTs from your wallet via OpenSea

• generates a Twitter header image (using a customizable template) with them

• and auto-updates your profile

Creating Social Images is always a pain - I'm trying to ban Photoshop Templates out of my life!

Here is a short video of how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTq1Gcb7uKo

Images are being created by my service over at placid.app, but you can manage templates right out of your WordPress backend (yes I cheated on that by i-framing the Editor into it - but still feels kinda good to me)

I'd love to hear what you think about my Idea in general, and if some WordPress heroes are here - then also about the obvious mistakes I made!

You can download and try the plugin for free here: https://placid.app/integrations/wordpress (at the bottom)

( I need the account for template saving/creating - but if someone likes to have a look without an account I can send a key! )

aulrich··on Show HN: Founders launching startups on Twitch
Sure! We started with 250 USD which we wanted to put in ourselves, and now we are at: https://twitter.com/thepatwalls/status/1062834446691233793 :)

We were able to get soo many awesome Sponsors on board ( https://24hrstartup.com/sponsors )

aulrich··on Show HN: Founders launching startups on Twitch
Heya!

I’m Armin, part of the team behind the 24 Hour Startup Challenge!

Over this weekend, there are over 300 founders building products live on Twitch in 24 hours. As I post this, there are almost 90 people live streaming their work from all over the world! You can watch them on 24hrstartup.com.

The idea behind this live-streamed hackathon event comes from Pat Walls. He challenged himself to do a 24-hour startup twice this year and live-streamed his process. He is currently moderating and interviewing people from the maker community in our main stream.

Initially, we planned for about 50 participants but were overwhelmed with sign-ups. People are motivated to do this, and you can see that in their streams! We think it’s great to watch everyone make their crazy ideas reality, so we wanted to share :)

A few products being built right now:

* Heartbeat Canvas - Generate art from your heartbeat

* Privacy First Products - A curated list where you can discuss privacy first products

* EpilepsyBlocker - Disable GIFs that may cause epilepsy

Let us know what you think!

Armin (& Melanie & Pat)

Thank you!!

Started with Laravel Spark .. so Laravel + Vue.js :)

Heya!

I’m Armin, co-creator of MakerWidget! It’s a little widget you can put on your project pages to show who you are, where to find you and what you did before.

My partner Melanie and I wanted to make ourselves more visible on our side project pages, so we tried to elaborate on Pieter Levels idea of a maker badge!

You can easily set up your widget on makerwidget.com for free and grab your embed code! It supports multiple makers, custom link lists and a project gallery. Being a team of two makers ourselves, we focused a lot on flexibility!

I built the whole thing with Laravel and Vue.js and learned so much on the way. Mostly about the fact that an iFrame can be transparent !? - In the next steps, im going to try to optimise the Request-count - if someone here can give me tips on what else I can (and should) do tech-wise please tell me!

I ship-streamed the development of this widget on Twitch, and will also be live today. You can watch me on shipstreams.com! (And yes, I’m low-key trying to make „ship-streaming“ a thing!) :)

Cheers, Armin

aulrich··on Show HN: A list of programmers coding live
you’re right! I also wrote that in my comment above! I already reached out to women maker groups and hope to add more to my list soon :)
aulrich··on Show HN: A list of programmers coding live
thank you! .. may I add your channel to the list? :)
aulrich··on Show HN: A list of programmers coding live
thank you! yeah its really hard to find a cool thing. (but I'm generally bad at navigating twitch haha)
aulrich··on Show HN: A list of programmers coding live
oh yes that would be awesome! thanks!
aulrich··on Show HN: A list of programmers coding live
Yeah I keep this list curated, so I confirm these people are doing mostly coding streams - and in future steps, I'll add more and more platforms!

I started out last week with like five people, and only twitch people kept writing me so far :)

aulrich··on Show HN: A list of programmers coding live
everyone was asked or submitted themselves via the form :)

Heya!

I’m Armin, I built shipstreams.com. Inspired by Pat Walls building "You Don't Need WordPress" live on Twitch in 24h, I created this list of makers streaming their work!

After many hours on Twitch I found many cool people doing so much great work. There is always to learn something while looking over someone's shoulder :)

If you want to add yourself and build with us, you can use the Submit Form. - I’m especially on the lookout for more streaming women makers! ‍

In the future, I'd like to add Youtube-Code-Steamers as well, or maybe you know of other Websites who host some Makers? Could see shipstreams as an aggregator for all of them :)

Cheers and see you Live, Armin

aulrich··on Show HN: Chrome Extension Displaying Social Media Link Previews
As I was coding away on the Placid ( https://placid.app ) Wordpress-Plugin I noticed I needed a simpler way to look at og:images and twitter:cards and created an uncomplicated injected Container to do that in my Wordpress installation.

After that, I wanted it for "ALL THE SITES" - and so a little Chrome Extension fell out of it :)

aulrich··on Show HN: Generate your og:images automatically
Thanks for your kind words

That's true, and I have to Update the Landing page to show some Watermark-Examples also!

but for you now: https://placid.app/u/mhick?title=hey%20kevinyun%20look%20at%...

aulrich··on Show HN: Generate your og:images automatically
Wow - That sounds indeed nifty - afaik you can only have 1 og:image for a Facebook Url/Resource - like https://placid.app can just have 1 image and I can update that via API, but after like 50 Interactions (Clicks/Likes/Shares) you cannot Update any longer.

I think you cannot test on the basis of one article, but in general, you could swap between entirely different templates - hmm I should write that down

aulrich··on Show HN: Generate your og:images automatically
thank you! :)

> You should think about creating a Wordpress plugin for this.

yes that is definitely on the list!

aulrich··on Show HN: Generate your og:images automatically
Hello Hacker-Newsers!

I’m Armin, co-maker of Placid. We deliver Social Images as a Service: Placid lets you generate nice Share Images for Twitter and Facebook via our API. (And more Social Image Formats soon!)

Here’s how it works:

1) Choose a preset design from our library.

2) Customize your template with default values for colors, text, photos / logos.

3) Integrate the meta tags into your project.

4) Change parameters of the Image URL in the meta tag to dynamically fill elements of the template. You can f.ex. generate your blog article’s title on to the image or fill a browser window with a screenshot of a website.

We started building Placid as a tool to automate Social Image Generation for our own projects and we figured it’s something that other people could use too. For now, we concentrated on providing Meta Images, but we’re already testing Placid for other use cases, like generated Pinterest Images. So we’ll soon add:

* An editor to create templates from scratch (and with custom Image Dimensions)

* More options to customize Presets

* More Presets (also for Instagram Posts and Stories, Pinterest Pins, Facebook Posts,..)

We’d love your feedback and suggestions for missing features or preset options :)

Armin
