attack··on Sick of jobs going overseas?
Understanding the world lets you make a better solution.
attack··on EBay Will Sell Skype: Report
More of a situation where they know that other companies could make a lot more money with skype, so why not sell skype to them and make a bigger profit than ebay could by holding onto skype?

It's all money.

attack··on Ask YC: What should one skimp on?
With the lavish resources they can throw at any project, it seems hardly appropriate for us to try to develop like them.
attack··on Sick of jobs going overseas?
You also tend to overstate countries' ability to control cost of living expenses. I don't think that I can agree with the conclusion that outsourcing has occurred primarily because of the laws in the US... I mean, really?

Take a look at the economic principal of dividing labor up by who can do each task best and how that helps everyone overall.

attack··on Sick of jobs going overseas?
No, it's the combination of value vs. cost, not just "better value". So what you should also be considering is lowering your acceptable wage since value you can provide probably isn't infinite.
attack··on Sick of jobs going overseas?
EVERY country does this. Lets not pretend that it's just evil America.
attack··on EBay Will Sell Skype: Report
Skype is huge throughout Europe. US, yes barely exists.
attack··on All-Pro Hacker Wanted
Oops, I thought YCnews was the JOB! Explains why they're so late in mailing my paycheck.

There are ~30 secret editors, btw.
attack··on Ask YC meetup/marketing on HN
It is a networking site for hackers/entrepreneurs. Look at it this way and these posts make more sense.
attack··on Ask YC: Recent *nix history..
Tab completion!!

Why the heck not?

attack··on Ask YC: Recent *nix history..
People still use ls? Why not just tab completion?
attack··on Debate over which is better for CS majors - liberal arts college, or engineering school?
> assuming gender ratio parity

Oh my, haha. At what schools does this occur?

attack··on Ask News.YC: Proposed experiment to test "The PG bias"
...which is detrimental. They won't if we don't let them.
attack··on Debate over which is better for CS majors - liberal arts college, or engineering school?
Many will argue that going for engineering gives you far more options with what you can do after.

Well, better for their career or better for their dating life?:)

You also allow him to relax his quality while enjoying his automatic points. Plus group-think lock-in for free.

I can only reducing this making the overall quality here improve.

attack··on Why Beautiful Women Marry Less Attractive Men
Instead of getting into a numbers match between all the influencing factors, I'd rather just point out that there are many confounding factors and that the authors of this seemed to miss that point entirely.
attack··on Ask News.YC: Proposed experiment to test "The PG bias"
Yes, necessarily biased. Severely in some cases, but there's only one way to prove that...
attack··on Ask News.YC: Proposed experiment to test "The PG bias"
Yeah, lets forget careful thinking and just support whoever had a good record previously regardless of what they say today.
attack··on Ask News.YC: Proposed experiment to test "The PG bias"
But voting like this is screwing up the entire merit system we have here and enforcing group-think.

It's like movie stars getting elected to political office just because they are more recognizable...

It could be made so that a nickname is automatically selected per-page. This way threads he comments in could be followed. A small pool of 5 or so names could be reused so that he couldn't be exposed by finding the user that has just been created.

Example implementation:

     unames=['bob1','bob2','pg']
     lu=len(unames)
     secret_seed=309580435

     from binascii import crc32
     def hash_eq(number):
         return crc32(str(number),secret_seed)

     def get_uname(page_id):
         return unames[hash_eq(page_id)%lu]
A checkbox for manual override could also be added.
attack··on Alexa changes their ranking scheme
It does look a lot more accurate for my medium-small sites.

Compete data is still far too sparse to do better on these.

attack··on Why Beautiful Women Marry Less Attractive Men
There is probably a strong inverse correlation between working hard for success and attractiveness in men. That could be reversing the results.

Women don't prefer less attractive men, all else being equal.

attack··on Selling a Working Web 2.0 Website - Where to Sell?
Kiko didn't sell the business (right?) They just sold the product. So I'm not convinced.

Kill NAT!
attack··on Why There Aren't More Googles
So the biggest gap is between angels/yc clones and VCs? It appears that there is a far bigger disparity between potential startups and angels who will fund them. This may be hard to grasp, depending on where you sit, but there is still a truly microscopic percentage of the workforce that gets in at the ground floor of a startup that gets funded by outside angels.

This is to say that percentages are what should be considered in measuring "ease" of getting an investment at each stage. 0.001% of groups that desire an early stage angel investment can get it, 30% of angel funded groups can get a successive intermediate investment, 50% of the groups that make it to the intermediate stage can get VC money, etc.
