Really? Because that statement completely goes against what people are currently saying over on Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/onplj/feds_shut_...)
Some examples:
>I'm a DMCA agent and this may well make my job harder. Megauploads was incredible with their response time to DMCA notices.
>They swiftly remove violating content, which will inevitably appear due to their business model. They do not condone piracy, and comply with DMCAs.
>The funny thing is that they TRIED to prevent this. They allowed record labels and movie studios to search through the files and delete anything they found as a copyright violation.
So someone's either misinformed or lying.
I don't think this is entirely accurate. If by "most Britons" you mean "most Daily Mail readers" then maybe...
Reddit, HackerNews & SlashDot down = Tech sites blackout
Reddit down = Remember that website that we reported was full of pedophiles last month? ...
I disagree. If certain big sites (google, facebook) black out then it WILL be covered by the mainstream media. As a result they're bound to publish "lists" of all other sites that have followed suit.
Every single site on these lists, whether Joe Public knows them or not, strengthens our cause.
Is it common for commercial games to write AI in Ruby now?
Unfortunately, the DS seem to have targeted a fairly legit company to "expose" this issue. I mean, it's not as if there is a massive dearth of shady companies on the app store they could of featured... the Daily Show just took advantage of one legit company's openness and naivity.
An ad for a local garage? Fine. But I would class "Mom discovers new TEETH WHITENING solution! Don't listen to your DENTIST! CLICK HERE TODAY!" to be pretty distracting and intrusive.
And what's stopping someone implementing this?
>But in addition to lotions for the most common programming languages ??are gaining more and more popular functional languages ??and platforms

I have a feeling it would see a distinct dropoff in usage if Apple were to change their focus to, say, Java or C++.
Apple's response? At its inception it had nothing to do with Apple and for a long time was the language of NeXT. It's only since OSX that Apple has adopted Objective-C.
