atok1··on Google keyword warrants give U.S. government data on search users
This over reach is so terrifying it's almost funny. Always use a VPN and/or Tor.
atok1··on Web Scrapers Claim to Sell Personal Data on Facebook Users on a Hacker Forum
FB is inherently evil and must be stopped at all costs. And your last part about giving those two groups a platform: so fucking what? Those groups are much more prestigious than our 'leaders'.
atok1··on CIA Implant: Green Lambert for OS X
I'd say this is very thoughtful and rational, and if I was the owner of the site in question, I would be thankful for poweruser comments.
atok1··on FBI has just requested the account info for almost 200k ProtonMail accounts
Why is this not on the front page?
atok1··on DEA Still Insists Marijuana Has No ‘Accepted Medical Use'
What use is the DEA to normal, everyday Americans?
atok1··on Former U.S. officials describe details of the CIA’s proposals to abduct Assange
At this point, if you can't see how fucked up the US legal system is, I am sorry.

Federal court has in the 90 percent conviction rate. Is it because they have such air tight cases and evidence to follow? No, it's a purely political kangaroo court.

Someone would do well do wipe this cancerous 'judicial' system off grid.

atok1··on Incident Response to September 20th 2021
Well thanks, I did not know that about ZT.
atok1··on Raspberry Pi KVMs Compared: TinyPilot and Pi-KVM v3
Would be awesome after you make some money back if you could open hardware it for those of us who require full trust!
atok1··on Google Drive of historical footage locked and flagged as terrorist activity
It's so pathetic, everything 'terrorist' these days purely means what the government/private corporation doesn't like.
atok1··on Lithuania says throw away Chinese phones due to censorship concerns
That has to be the most lame excuse I've ever heard, at least it's funny!
atok1··on ‘Every message was copied to the police’
What if I were to make encrypted phones and software for high net worth individuals and celebrities?
atok1··on Incident Response to September 20th 2021
I certainly agree with you. I just posted a few days ago saying I would never trust this company.

In fact, I would never trust a company that didn't explicitly state that the company having a central server facilitating operations (Signal, et all) is a huge risk.

atok1··on Former NSA Hacker Describes Being Recruited for UAE Spy Program
These kinds of compensations are not unheard of at all in tech. While I'm not making quite as much as OP, I am coming close.
atok1··on Advice to New Managers: Don't Joke About Firing People (2020)
Yeah, that is pretty rough. I've been in similar situations and I tell my self to just try to be a better person today than to dwell over the past. I can't change what I've done but try to do better.
atok1··on Germany's federal police agency purchased and used 'Pegasus' spyware
All the big nation's pull this, unfortunately. Just some take longer to be reported on.

We need to demand accountability for the countries that supply, and use these tools of terror.

atok1··on Linux Phones [are less secure than mainstream Android]
I trust my versions of Linux infinitely more times than anything corporate made, despite the claims, just as you succinctly said.
atok1··on Tell HN: Thanks to thehodge and littlewarden.com, this site is up today
That's pretty useful, thanks.

I can setup a monitor (FOSS) for the computer that is doing the site monitoring, since I only use open source software that I can inspect.

atok1··on Tell HN: Thanks to thehodge and littlewarden.com, this site is up today
I'm not sure with this instance but I do know that people complained since CF is the antithesis of privacy and the free internet.
atok1··on Australia’s new mass surveillance mandate
AU needs to be stopped. Resources should be put to this.
atok1··on ProtonMail deletes 'we don't log your IP' from website after activist arrested
You got played. Just remember to never trust marketing in the future and always read the fine print, no matter how long it may be.
atok1··on ProtonMail deletes 'we don't log your IP' from website after activist arrested
I'm glad that they are at least removing that fallacy and people can't quote it any longer.
atok1··on Climate activist arrested after ProtonMail provided his IP address
Don't trust DDG.
atok1··on Climate activist arrested after ProtonMail provided his IP address
If you create, they will come.
atok1··on Climate activist arrested after ProtonMail provided his IP address
I've always said never trust PM. See Cryptome for more info.

Also, their VPN...

atok1··on Malware found preinstalled in classic push-button phones sold in Russia
Hey, we can't slander or marginalize any group now. Criminals have rights!
atok1··on ZeroTier – Global Area Networking
Would not trust.
atok1··on Google introduces $50 4G smartphone
It would 'enable' more people if it ran a free, open source operating system.

The only thing it's enabling is another human rights disrespecting corporation.

atok1··on Delays aren’t good enough – Apple must abandon its surveillance plans
I can proudly say I am one of those people building a private, better, future :)
atok1··on GoDaddy terminates hosting of Texas anti-abortion tip website
I really despise when corporations choose to censor their customers and users. I don't care what the content is if it's technically legal.

If it matters at all, I am neutral about abortion.

atok1··on How did American “wokeness” jump from elite schools to everyday life?
This is a perspective I had not even considered and that is why I am glad I came to HN to learn.
