Except the people that don't have a charging station in their garage or folks that have a power outage. Just this week, we had a heat wave (70-80F) and winds up to 90MPH across California that resulted in power outages throughout the state as well as several fires.
You better tell that to the lefties that label themselves antifa. What isn't real is a group called Antifa, but the anti-fascist (and anti-capitalist) movement, otherwise known as antifa, is real.
I never experienced drug or grocery stores locking up merchandise until I was visiting a friend in SF in 2007. Then again that was also the first time I saw used condoms and needles in the gutter, a person taking a dump between two parked cars, and two men humping in the bushes of Golden Gate Park.
In 2013, Foxconn promised to spend $30 million over two years building a robotics manufacturing facility in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania that would have employed five hundred people. They also planned to invest $10 million into R&D at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) as part of the arrangement. In return, the state, county, and city offered Foxconn tax incentives and property improvements. Seven years after the ribbon cutting ceremony, the property is still an empty lot and CMU never received the investment.
On the plus side, nobody's home was seized as they were in Wisconsin.
The belief of being able to re-license BSD code is quite prevalent in the Linux community and is often espoused here on Hacker News.
One man had won a court settlement when he was young and the woman applying for benefits remembered reading about him in the paper, so she put his name and address on the application to get the money. The court ordered him to start paying child support. He tried to fight it in court with a DNA test, but you need to serve the mother and neither the court nor the social welfare agency would release her address.
Maybe because he is a lying blowhard grifter. This is not new, he has been this way for fifty years. You can go back to his interviews in the 70s and 80s, and see the same behavior.
Anybody that has taken chemistry and biology in high school should be able to grasp why organics are not better. This is basic science education. The arguments of folks that embrace organics are nothing more than pleas to emotion and sometimes pleas to tradition. It is not ignorance, it is stupidity.
It is the same thing with petroleum. The majority of folks on this site want to see the end to oil exploration and refining, because they only consider its use as a fossil fuel. An electric car could not be made without oil. As an example, a single tire uses seven gallons of oil, five gallons are used as feed stock and two are used in the manufacturing process.
There are plenty of highly educated people here that simply ignore reality because it makes them feel better.
A tomato grown with organic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers has the same nutrition value as a tomato grown with synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
A genetically modified tomato can more nutritious.
Organic is about selling expensive food to stupid people.
There is nothing inherently better about organic. It isn't healthier. It isn't better for the environment. At best, the yields are equal, but normally they are lower. With lower yields come higher prices. There are plenty of organic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers that are just as dangerous as synthetic varieties. There are more cases of food recalls for organic contamination than synthetic.
The issue with GMO is not food safety, it is patents. The use of GMO crops have reduced chemical usage while increasing yields. They have also introduced critical vitamins and minerals to groups of people that have deficient levels. This has been a boon in Africa.
