Yes but keep them out of food and put them in the air (or elsewhere) is not a good goal.
Organic is about selling expensive food to stupid people.
There is nothing inherently better about organic. It isn't healthier. It isn't better for the environment. At best, the yields are equal, but normally they are lower. With lower yields come higher prices. There are plenty of organic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers that are just as dangerous as synthetic varieties. There are more cases of food recalls for organic contamination than synthetic.
The issue with GMO is not food safety, it is patents. The use of GMO crops have reduced chemical usage while increasing yields. They have also introduced critical vitamins and minerals to groups of people that have deficient levels. This has been a boon in Africa.
Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. The purpose of buying organic is signalling your preferences for eating healthier food. Yes, sometimes, the process we set up to do this, will yield worse results, but that just means we should try harder, not give up on eating healthier.
A tomato grown with organic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers has the same nutrition value as a tomato grown with synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
A genetically modified tomato can more nutritious.
Anybody that has taken chemistry and biology in high school should be able to grasp why organics are not better. This is basic science education. The arguments of folks that embrace organics are nothing more than pleas to emotion and sometimes pleas to tradition. It is not ignorance, it is stupidity.
It is the same thing with petroleum. The majority of folks on this site want to see the end to oil exploration and refining, because they only consider its use as a fossil fuel. An electric car could not be made without oil. As an example, a single tire uses seven gallons of oil, five gallons are used as feed stock and two are used in the manufacturing process.
There are plenty of highly educated people here that simply ignore reality because it makes them feel better.
On the other hand, with the "Demeter" label (the third-largest organic association in Germany) you get some better statistics, but not by much, and you're also paying for the farmers to bury cow skulls filled with magic herbs.
I'd really appreciate a EU-wide label with some graduations that actually mean something.
My wife and I eat organic meats that are as humanely raised as possible for health reasons.
For the environment, and our health, we eat very little meat.
