astrowilliam··on Ask HN: Why do you code?
Do you still enjoy it? The reason I ask is that I go through slumps where I just don't have any creative juice left for a while.

Just used the title from the article. Didn't mean any harm. Looks like the title has changed.

I wonder if it is able to be used for astrophotography. If so, you can take my money.

Been using this for quite some time now. Great feature. I've talked with numerous people that have no idea you can do this. They are HEAVY gmail users too.

My space news website account: https://twitter.com/spaceindnews I post a few times a day at the most about space news, mainly astronomy.

Out of everything you wrote, "I missed chewing" definitely wasn't the strangest thing. I think I'd miss it as well. Thanks for the insight.

I'm interested about what your diet was before your DIY project. I'm a meat eater, love a proper steak.

Did you notice any drop in energy, fatigue, etc?

Did you feel full?

Thanks!

astrowilliam··on AmazonCart – Add items to your Amazon.com shopping cart without leaving Twitter
I'm a big list guy. I like to store things in different lists depending on my interests. I also do a lot of repeat buying so it's helpful to have a bunch of lists.
astrowilliam··on AmazonCart – Add items to your Amazon.com shopping cart without leaving Twitter
I would as well. I might not be in the mood to buy the product right now, but would like to be reminded about it later.
astrowilliam··on AmazonCart – Add items to your Amazon.com shopping cart without leaving Twitter
A lot of people tweet random amazon links on my feed, not affiliates, just normal people that buy stuff on amazon. I could see it coming in handy for them.

I personally don't see any need for this in my life right now, though I do buy a lot on Amazon.

For marketers, this could be a huge deal.

This is an absolutely incredible feat of engineering and science. GO SPACEX!
astrowilliam··on I took ads off my site and replaced with Bitcoin donations, it didn't work.
I truly did want it to succeed, but I'm a content guy, not a business guy. Maybe that's my problem. I'm 1 guy trying to do the job of 5-10 people while holding down a demanding day job.
astrowilliam··on I took ads off my site and replaced with Bitcoin donations, it didn't work.
I'll be in touch. I'm open to anything at this point. This whole bitcoin donation thing was a great experiment and I would really like to pay for the site without any ads. I hate ads.
astrowilliam··on I took ads off my site and replaced with Bitcoin donations, it didn't work.
Woah, that was weird. This thread was #1 for around an hour and it jumped down to #37 almost instantly. I wonder what happened. Can an admin explain? I'm genuinely curious about the algorithm that would cause this.
astrowilliam··on I took ads off my site and replaced with Bitcoin donations, it didn't work.
Ahh, ok. That would explain it. I can see their point, it helps cut down on illegal activity. But it's also a pain for users like yourself who would have really enjoyed their service.
astrowilliam··on I took ads off my site and replaced with Bitcoin donations, it didn't work.
It would be very nice to get a $5CPM, but I'm hovering around the $1CPM range right now. It's not bad for a niche site like mine on Adsense, or so I've been told.

If I had some extra time I'd put some effort into selling ad space but as of right now my full time job takes up most of my time.

astrowilliam··on I took ads off my site and replaced with Bitcoin donations, it didn't work.
That's weird. When I signed up with Coinbase I didn't have to supply any of that information. Are you based outside the USA?
astrowilliam··on I took ads off my website in favor of Bitcoin donations
I agree with you. Blogs and news sites have to find the right revenue stream for their audience. Mine might be donations. It might also be banner ads. I'm not exactly sure yet, so that's why I'm doing this experiment.
astrowilliam··on I took ads off my website in favor of Bitcoin donations
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. And yes, I know the audience is very small right now but I believe in time that will change. I'm not sure if I've "jumped the gun" and acted too quickly, but this experiment is worth the effort and time to see if it will actually work.

I'm excited to see what happens in the next 10 days, let alone 40 days.

The reason why I've opted for showing no banner ads is because I don't think that the sharing of information should be diluted with outside influences. I have made plenty of money with banner ads in the past and I know with the right audience and the right amount of traffic you can make a killing. But, that's why I'm doing this site. I'm doing it for my love of science and the cosmos.

Thanks again.

astrowilliam··on What I learned by switching to Bitcoin donations instead of traditional ads
Thank you for your suggestion. I've added PayPal to the mix. Though I feel that BTC is the future of currency I'm not sure everyone will feel the same way.
astrowilliam··on Facebook Security Director Joins Bitcoin Startup Coinbase
I'm a fan of BTC and use coinbase as my central wallet of choice. Super excited about this news.

I recently switched from regular banner advertisements on my site ( http://www.spaceindustrynews.com ) - cheap plug - to taking BTC donations. The BTC community has been amazingly supportive throughout the whole thing.

astrowilliam··on What I learned by switching to Bitcoin donations instead of traditional ads
Doge seems like a good idea. I have reached out to that community on Reddit to see what they think and they seem very enthusiastic.

The problem with Dogecoin is that I can't find anything relatively close to coinbase.com as a wallet.

astrowilliam··on What I learned by switching to Bitcoin donations instead of traditional ads
Great idea. I can probably whip up an iOS app for that. Sounds like a weekend project :)Thanks!
