I'd strongly disagree just because of periscope alone, putting twitter at the forefront of citizen powered news, like livestream before it.

asojfdowgh··on Antidepressants and health-related quality of life for patients with depression
I ain't know expert, I feel like instead of just pills, pills & a plan is viable

I didn't expect there to be a period where I felt notably better / full of vigor, and I feel that if I'd do everything over again, knowing that a potential boost of emotional energy would be coming, I would be able to make use of that. Instead I was happy (IMO reasonably so) to just enjoy not being depressed for a bit

asojfdowgh··on eBook service Hoopla brings anti-vax, and pro-LGBTQ conversion books
> “Libraries should be trusted hubs for quality information, and these companies are undermining the library’s traditional role in the information landscape,”

I never viewed libraries as that, I always thought more that they were repositories of humanity, hence why they offer additional things like music, software, etc

And I wonder how many religious texts they have, no doubt recommending worse than conversion

nevermind any of that, challenging our views is an important aspect of how we grow mentally, to remove that is just... damaging to the next generation

asojfdowgh··on Framework Laptop Mainboard
> I did a quick check with a TBT2 eGPU I have and it is recognized. We can grab some newer GPU docks and test to confirm they work. But yes should work.

> yes, tbt3/usb4 tops out at 32gbps, which is about the same as pcie gen 3 x4 - so will not be the same speed as a x16 slot on a desktop, but still plenty fast for a lot of use cases.

from the frame.work forums

so you practically have a PCIe slot/s available if you get an adapter for them

asojfdowgh··on The case for LineageOS and the PinePhone
my pc is older than all of those numbers and runs fine, and I expect roughly the same from the pinephone

for my pc if I wanna use a sim card after old network shutdown, all it is is swapping a single card on the mobo, perhaps swapping out some antennas too

for the pinephone, just swapping the baseboard without the rest changing, or make/group hire someone to make a case with an updated modem

for battery, because you get a free battery to keep around for emergencies when you buy a new one.

I guess if you want to pay to fix your problems, fine, but not everyone has the luxury to do that!

asojfdowgh··on The case for LineageOS and the PinePhone
IIRC you can flash the modem for pinephones, so it would be possible to achieve what you want in the future

asojfdowgh··on The law that banned everything
> In recent years, it’s been applied to try and force mask mandates [...]

from cited article,

> The investigation by the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights “will focus on whether … students with disabilities who are at heightened risk for severe illness from COVID-19 are prevented from safely returning to in-person education, in violation of Federal law,” the letters from the department to states read.

Which seems very reasonable IMO

- - -

> [...] the use of left wing history books in schools [...]

"recent years" now means "1974 through 1980"

- - -

> [...] and now, transgender women competing against biological women in college and high school sports.

which is bad because ... ? Everyone is fine with the concept of doping, but suddenly if someone goes the opposite direction, the resulting loss in muscle mass and power can not occur, and the people in question must be cheats?

I don't think one should go to the level of making random bs claims about things, and then blaming the groups one is making the claims about.
asojfdowgh··on The most efficient market is decentralised and runs on a blockchain
methodology of introducing a lot of noise and irrelevant numbers to hide information, would be good at politics

more practical methodology: The cash-only person who lives in the forest (finally got treated for his paranoia) wants to convert his money to electric, and maybe wants to trade that money.

What is the costs along the way of (assuming he has an ID) getting any financial accounts required in the way of acquiring the desired digital money or asset, And then what is involved in a second transaction, once already involved in the system

e.g., for Spaceship in Australia, step 1 would be to open a debit account, step 2 would be to deposit that cash into that account, step 3 would be to send that money to Spaceship

The account, deposit, etc, have no fee / only a monthly fee, spaceship has its own fee, add those together, thats the overhead of the initial transaction

Also worth noting that this stuff started out pre-1997. As cool as the idea of getting a high out of a set of speakers is, I'd've expected a lot more elaboration on the idea if it did work

asojfdowgh··on Accused of cheating, marathon runner Frank Meza's life fell apart (2019)

Unless he stopped for over 6 minutes to piss on the doorstep of a Hooters, he cheated

- - -

Why act like there is a day-by-day timeline of evidence found and presented in the article's flowery writing. Its obviously skipping out on some aspects make telling the story easier, so its daft to use it as a base to understand the situation fully, but you act like you have become well informed somehow.

asojfdowgh··on Putin Warned Us
Complaining about NATO threatening russia's existence and agency, but once again completely ignoring that Ukraine is an independent-from-russia country, is the whole issue with commentary on the topic

Russia doesn't own Ukraine, Russia isn't Ukraine's dad, Russia saying "don't marry my daughter" to NATO, should be laughed at, Russia has zero right to dictate that another country should not be allowed to seek safety from Russia. Russia is not special.

asojfdowgh··on Putin Warned Us
Seems very fine with removing agency of the countries involved

With agency: Ukraine has a neighbor who threatens to use Ukraine as a stepping stone, and another neighbor who doesn't

Which neighbor would Ukraine view positive, which would they view negative?
