arthurk··on Setting up Django with gunicorn, nginx, supervisord and fabric
Why Python 2.6 and not 2.7?
arthurk··on Android Developer Income Report #10
I remember your post from about a year ago when you quit your day job and wanted to make money with website flipping. However, I haven't checked your blog since then and this looks like you're doing quite well.
arthurk··on Ask HN: Saturday dilemma
Is it common in India to work on Saturdays?
arthurk··on Edw519 wrote a book compiling his best HN Comments
I tried to read this but the Scribd reader hung up on me after a few pages and all I got to see were blank pages (I'm using FF4). Would it be possible to compile some of the comments in a "Sample.pdf" file and directly link to that instead?
arthurk··on Mozilla Launches Firefox 4 for Android
You can.

arthurk··on Httpstat.us: API for generating different HTTP codes.
I did a similar experiment a few years ago. It's based on GAE and you can find it here: http://httpstatus.appspot.com/

arthurk··on Happy Git Commits
You could also use a Nabaztag and let the rabbit dance on post-commit.
arthurk··on Ask HN: How/Where to take a month off
I'm going to travel the US later this year for a month. And I'm a little bit uncertain what kind of backpack I should buy. I've never traveled that long and previously I took a small trolley bag. However, I was always wondering if there's a better alternative. What kind of backpack do you recommend?
arthurk··on Thank God It's Friday Syndrome
"'If you were only going to do one thing today, what would it be?'. Simply answer the question and the app will take care of the rest."

Sure.

arthurk··on Ask HN: Please seed my survey to raise awareness about obesity
"Division by zero" error at http://obesitynearme.com/country/DE/
arthurk··on "Don't you dare waste your fucking time"
How do you know that? post them on the internet, I'm sure someone will read them.
arthurk··on Programming with proportional fonts is great
It's actually 79 chars ;-)

"Limit all lines to a maximum of 79 characters."

arthurk··on I Have No Talent
I also found this quote in the comments: “I’m not a great programmer; I’m just a good programmer with great habits.” (Refactoring, Beck Fowler, 1999).
arthurk··on I Have No Talent
Thanks for editing the title. It previously included "RailsTips by" and I thought this was for Rails developers and didn't click on it.
arthurk··on Ask HN: Review my holiday project
Entering something other than a number in the "times" field results in the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last): File "/base/python_lib/versions/1/google/appengine/ext/webapp/__init__.py", line 509, in __call__ handler.post(groups) File "/base/data/home/apps/resolution-tracker/1.338888254051474539/resolution.py", line 69, in post r.threshold = int(self.request.get('threshold', 1)) ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

arthurk··on Ask HN: Review my holiday project
Could you also make the message box close when pressing ESC?
arthurk··on Latest Chromium builds for Mac OS X support Chrome Extensions
Yes. I've been using 1P for over a year now and 80% of my passwords were generated by the password generator. They are impossible to remember. The other 20% are passwords for web-based apps that I access on other computers from time to time.
arthurk··on Ideas for the new catonmat.net website
"28. Highlight The Python Code As In SQLalchemy Documentation." -- Yes, they're using Pygments.
arthurk··on Crunchpad renamed "JooJoo" will cost $499 on sale Dec. 11
And notice that the website title is "The Joo Joo". So, is it spelled "JooJoo" or "Joo Joo"?
arthurk··on The left fold: 2009-11-29: Java 7, Haskell 2010, plus experience reports
Hey alec, I just wanted to say thanks for the weekly updates. I've been reading it since issue 1. Keep up the good work!
arthurk··on Linux Compose Key
It would be even better with an Optimus Maximus keyboard[1] that has OLED keys. But it's still at $1700 :-(

arthurk··on Django for a Rails Developer
"Why not create a ‘templates’ directoy and a ‘base.html’ either in project’s directory or in the apps’s directory, because creating the same templates directory and same base.html for every project is not DRY?"

There's nothing wrong with that. Even the djangoproject.com website does it: http://code.djangoproject.com/browser/djangoproject.com/djan...

"Why serving static files in development has to be a additional setup, as no developer wants to setup a server for serving static files, I am aware of ‘django.static.serve’ but still that is an additional setup, why not create a sample media directory and a url for the same in urls.py ?"

arthurk··on VMWare Fusion 3 is out (new features linked)
According to Microsoft Aero will be enabled in Windows 7 if a DirectX 9 compatible GPU with a minimum of 128 MB of Video RAM is detected.

I installed Win7 earlier today and can confirm that it is not available on my old MacBook with GMA 950 GPU with 64MB RAM.

arthurk··on VMWare Fusion 3 is out (new features linked)
But only on a GPU >= nVidia 9400
arthurk··on Puzzle Websites to Sharpen Your Programming Skills
The topcoder headline reminds me of Mythical Man-Month. "What could you accomplish with a team of 222,375?" Nothing?
arthurk··on Ask HN: What source code is worth studying?
If you're interested in literate programming: TeX
arthurk··on Major bug in Snow Leopard deletes all user data
No, guest login is disabled by default.
arthurk··on Recording screen activity with QuickTime Player
Great feature but Quicktime can only records videos in the current screen resolution.

And honestly, I don't think a 6-step tutorial is necessary for this.

arthurk··on Let's Make Unix Not Suck [Miguel de Icaza] [2000]
Some modules still use it but it is mostly marked as deprecated and will be removed in Gnome 3.0.
arthurk··on [dead]
Everyone has a different taste in music. Let's not argue about "great coding music".
