As many have mentioned this is just whining from a guy who has a vested interested in a big company spending lots on payroll and acq-hires.
The flip-side this creates a better market for younger or less-experienced engineers who are looking to learn and grow. This group of people will never be able to get a job with Facebook, but can certainly join a company who is willing to grow with them.
Its not "unlimited" cellular, there is a fair use policy, this article indicates: "Republic's fair-use limits are 550 minutes, 150 text messages, and 300MB when on a cellular connection" - http://www.mobileburn.com/17420/news/republic-wireless-launc...
I threw this on hackernews to get a conversation going about how you have to be careful building functionality into a core product vs having a plugin mentality. Story line is in the post.
Is HN turning into TC? Come on put this on Reddit or something. Sorry, I just don't know how this is relevant. Email + Rant + Twitter = Technology or Winning?
Its great for startup companies, now they just have to worry about executing in the first year. I do think they will miss a lot of the struggle and hardwork in fundraising, but as pg says thats just a time sink. One jab: Whats better than 100K...150K
I'm pretty sure the government couldn't afford to let Sun fail, every piece of software that I've seen with even a remote affiliation with the US gov. has been built on Java.
No rudeness intended, but "Possession is nine-tenths of the law". I don't think police officers stalking a cabby for a phone you left in a cab is worth it to the general public.
Every driver has had some life or death situation with a "semi-truck". I believe the widespread anger goes towards anyone driving a huge vehicle that a normal car has trouble seeing around. Most of my personal anger goes towards city buses and anyone who drives a work van , most of these drivers speed, don't slow down in crosswalks, and cut you off in traffic.
I've been waiting for this to happen for so long. Glad a dignified organization like Bloomberg picked this up, I wonder if there were any bids from MTV or Bravo for that matter.
Nail on the head. We have been back in Boston for about year and a half, got a bunch of free office space (MC, CM). One of the best responses from a VC- "You can
clearly do well... but not within the revenue of >$200M which we would hope to see in a potential investment (happy if you prove us wrong though!)"
If you're not famous, getting a reservation is painful...this is the truth for a ton of things. Stoking the fire never hurts. Funny thing I tweeted at this guy and got no response.
The RMV in MA is basically their own governing body, they have no attachment to the courts and can and will do as they please. Many of the decisions solely rest on whether or not the person you talk to is having a good day.
My point is they used tactics that most people in the industry have been using for years. People shouldn't be so outraged or shocked by it. Rogue agents is just a silly explanation.
It sounds like if the industry isn't enforcing itself and operating out in the open, no one really cares. Also once these companies get their hands on you they make you sign contracts so that you can only exclusively list through them. Its a screwed up industry full of commission based workers.
I'm pretty sure everyday rental companies (with real agents) in the Boston Area post fake apt listings on Craigslist to attract customers. Also I know for a fact that they harvest listings from Craigslist and rental sections of newspapers to call and email owners hounding them to list and show their apts. Whats the difference?
Sounds like Vegas would be a good starting point, no one remembers what happens there (zing). In all seriousness, Google is going to drop a ton of money into Nevada to make this happen and drive more people to Vegas again. I call this a stimulation package, hope it passes.
I try not to publicly complain too much, but when I got this upgrade a month ago I was shocked. Its so bloated and unevenly proportionate for use. It seems like they are trying to take up as much real estate on the desktop and compete for the attention of the user , i.e. move them away from gmail/gchat etc.
