arkitaip··on Are spreadsheets a true programming language?
Another ChatGPT comment?
arkitaip··on Ask HN: Games suggestion for a 3 to 6yo child
I've enjoyed playing the following games with my nieces:

* Minecraft

* Roblox

* Sims

* Fortnite

Getting used to the controls takes time because they aren't used to desktop/mouse/keyboard before.

arkitaip··on Twitch CEO Emmett Shear is resigning
Most of the innovation is driven by the streamers and target viewers anyways. Just check out the events that people like Ibai are doing - bigger and more fun than anything Twitch has done.
arkitaip··on Microsoft Designer
It's just more randomness to pad out their Microsoft 365 offerings. It's like that horrible buffet you keep visiting because it's cheap and, well, cheap.
arkitaip··on Microsoft Designer
I dunno man, Teams has only given me a slight headache this morning instead of a cluster migraine.
arkitaip··on Microsoft Designer
Not sure how that's relevant in this context but maybe you're saying designers should just stick with MS Paint instead of this new software?
arkitaip··on Haraldur Thorleifsson's Personal Site
It is simply impossible to ripoff an entire style of drawing.
arkitaip··on Twitter was down
Maybe we could GoFundMe a couple of Slack accounts to the Twitter devs?
arkitaip··on Live on a cruise ship for $30k per year
Isn't that the way most Westerns go on holiday anyways? Doing the same things at the same places like everyone else?
arkitaip··on Explanation of the Domino's Pizza tracker
I noticed the same thing at a Burger King here in Stockholm, Sweden. Very annoying to go to the counter and realize that your "ready" order is far from being so.
arkitaip··on OKRs will never be enough
Does anyone use OKRs for themselves? How does it work?
arkitaip··on A reason why Mac speakers sound better and louder than most
That's an incredibly useful trick and now I wonder if there is a small Windows utility that makes it easy to recover similar ghost data?
arkitaip··on Facebook Announces Meta Verified
Tons of people use Whatsapp, Imo and other chat to keep in touch with friends and families without the nonsense of social media.
arkitaip··on Tesla recalls 360k vehicles, says full self-driving beta may cause crashes
How would you know, are you a lawyer?
arkitaip··on Marc Andreessen says remote work has ‘detonated’ the way we connect
I'm back doing office work after two years of studying and I get why people are freaking out about remote. As much as I prefer remote and hybrid work, it really is more difficult to connect to colleagues when you don't regularly see them. The mechanisms we have right now are too primitive to compensate for the loss of connectedness.
arkitaip··on Using old books to fight Web 3.0
> Outside of keeping connected with people (Signal, Whatsapp, etc), there really is no reason to use the internet except to gain knowledge (isn't that why the internet was invented in the first place? web 1.0).

Except online banking, using mandatory national digital id services, paying for stuff, applying for a job and you know a million other thinga that are completely digital.

> I don't mean time travel, I mean books. In particular, books that are pre-2010s, the earlier the better in most subjects.

Ok now I'm pretty sure this entire rant is generated by an AI using a weird prompt because there is no way that ChatGPT would output such a poorly constructed argumentet.

arkitaip··on Google Is Likely Testing Its Own ChatGPT-Style AI
I think the real question is, can Google package this in an exciting and usable way? Because right now OpenAI is shitting the bed with ChatGPT with the random censoring and the constant down time. The bar really isn't super high right now.
arkitaip··on Cal.com: Open Scheduling Infrastructure
What does open source mean when you have to use a hosted solution and "premium" names cost 29 usd / month.
arkitaip··on Google is freaking out about ChatGPT
I've spent countless of hours using ChatGPT but it is so neutered and inaccessible that I don't even bother loading the site anymore. I don't see OpenAI as a major player in this space.

Alphagoo could still dominate the GAI space considering they have the superior data network and product eco system. If they are so bothered by how Google might be affected by the unknown unknowns (AI hallucinations, reputation damage etc), they could offer their GAIs under a new brand/company. They have the product expertise to pull this off, they just need to think outside of the Google box.

arkitaip··on A mental health tech company ran an AI experiment on real users
Regarding your second dimension, the "good" thing about ChatGPT is that you can request a new answer if the previous one doesn't vibe with you... Also, you could probably create infinite therapist personas that are tailored to your specific needs.
arkitaip··on Stripe clawed back pension contributions after staff cuts
Unfortunately this is almost never true because of the endless supply for desperate, gullible or just arrogant people who are ready to work for top tech companies.
arkitaip··on Job interviews are a nightmare – and only getting worse
They have none of the financial muscles of big tech yet have adopted all their overhead and poor practices.
arkitaip··on Ask HN: Which subjects do you plan to learn in 2023?
I'll finish my UX studies in 6 months but I reckon i will keep taking course and learning new topics because the field is so vast. I want to focus more on agile and product discovery so any recs are appreciated.
arkitaip··on The Cornell Note Taking System
Yes! Something happens when we take notes and that seems to improve learning but recall using flash cards is interestingly much more useful than re-reading the same notes.

Anyone who wants to take a course in meta learning that's grounded in science is recommended to take the practical and free Coursera course Learning How To Learn: https://www.coursera.org/learn/learning-how-to-learn

arkitaip··on GoDaddy Rant
I just don't get why dev people keep using Go Daddy after decades of bad customer service and poor product. Seriously, they aren't even cheap.
arkitaip··on Devirtualizing nike.com's bot protection
Your browser's fingerprint is much more unique than you think: https://amiunique.org/
arkitaip··on A skeptical take on ChatGPT: Ezra Klein interviews Gary Marcus
Isn't it interesting how OpenAI has neutered ChatGPT to be insanely politically correct on even non-controversial and mundane topics yet they won't put the proper mechanisms in place so that ChatGPT can at least be correct about its most basic claims.
arkitaip··on Making Google Sheets look less like Google Sheets
Ok now this is impressive and absolutely new to me.
arkitaip··on Ask HN: What are your predictions for the world in 2023?
Every day I'm seeing devs, designers, writers and other professionals showcase how they are already using Generative AIs at work.
arkitaip··on Medusajs
"Medusa is a composable engine that combines an amazing developer experience with endless customizations for merchants to scale."

That's not a Shopify alternative - quite the opposite.
