archonjobs··on Akka, Haskell, Erlang, Go and .NET Core compared on 1M threads
I think the .NET core implementation is flawed... Task.FromResult doesn't actually happen on another thread, it returns an already completed Task synchronously. You might want to use Task.Run instead.

Toronto, Canada - Archon Systems - C# Developer (Mobile / Xamarin) - Full Time

We're a profitable Toronto startup looking for an intermediate C# developer with a passion for mobile. You will be the primary developer working on new mobile apps, writing C# code that works on both Android and iOS using Xamarin.

Our company is tight-knit and full of smart people. We build software to help small businesses and we care a lot about both our customers and employees. Most of the time we work in the office Mondays and Wednesdays, then work from home the other days. More about that here: http://www.archonsystems.com/devblog/2013/09/19/open-offices...

archonjobs··on Ask HN: Is UML still relevant today?
Here are a couple recent research papers that basically say no, UML isn't used much in practice.

archonjobs··on The inexplicable rise of open floor plans in tech companies
Agreed, the either-or mindset is unnecessary. This hybrid arrangement based on days of the week works well for us: http://www.archonsystems.com/devblog/2013/09/19/open-offices...

I guess you could say that email marketers are getting Scroogled by Microsoft's ads. ;)
archonjobs··on Why open-office layouts are bad for employees, bosses, and productivity
The best tradeoff I've found is 1. Open-office layout two (specified) days a week; perfect for collaboration and meetings. 2. People work from home three days a week; perfect for those coding marathons.

Obviously you can still code in an open-office and you can still collaborate working from home, but it's sub-optimal. With the setup above, you're in the right environment for the right type of work most of the time, and employees love it.
