(Though there is some overlap as Toyota also builds in the US)
Last week California certified a Billionaire Wealth Tax for the November ballot: a 5 percent one-time levy on the state’s billionaires, paid out over five years, to raise about $20 billion a year for health care, food aid, and schools after federal cuts
Is just flat out crazy.
To pretend that politicians who are in a perpetual political battle for short-term survival will somehow use this weapon of mass financing responsibly and only once it comically absurd.
This will open Pandoras box.
Plus the people selling it to you will simply play you off each other since you're publicly committed to buying it. Like with that train they're building.
Not if you already own the canal but would have to buy or rent the fields.
These models are not 'barely capable', they're contemporary near frontier.
There's value in knowing what capabilities local models will have on regular hardware in the near future.
Shingles have a shelf life of ~25 years. Most people buy old homes. And the roof is somewhere in the middle of its life. Its usually better to replace the roof and add solar at the same time.
You can just take off the PV when replacing a roof, costs a few hundred if you don't want to do it yourself. Trivial compared to the cost of a new roof and probably less than the savings in the meantime they're on the old roof.
Just a matter of priorities.
Well except paying $300 a month I guess.
This includes SteamOS.
Though realistically I use a passkey for services I care about and a password manager for the rest.
We have no such government with a mandate to do that.
Then after 20 min an actual alarm goes off, just in case.
The regular-ceiling-lights-as-alarm service gets positive feedback. Weird how smarthome companies never market that, seems easy win.
There's no reason to not do both.
Also a quick NFC sticker in each room taking you to a small HTML site containing settings (temp, ventilation, lights, shutters, setting a alarm by the lights) has been golden.
No one wants to: download Shelly app + AC app + look for ventilation IR controller + figure out how casting works for the TV + figure out how to use the Shelly app to turn lights into an alarm. It's too much friction for little gain. But a quick tap? Great.
But tapping your phone on a NFC sticker bringing all those controls together per room in stead of per category (all lights in Shelly app. Person in room #1 has no interests in the lights in room #4 at the same time.).
IF you tap it while not on Wifi yet it just tells you to connect to Wifi. :-)
One "all house" sticker next to the front door allows any last person leaving or first person entering to put the entire house in active / idle mode.
Works wonders. And as soon as local AI is quick enough the stickers will be a microphone!
I can understand slow games like EuroTruck or Farming Sim. But what's the point of this?
