I think Simple would get a lot more attention then they are getting if they offered a paid service for people who wanted to link their accounts and use their platform as a money tracking tool.
There is serious feature deficiency going on there. If you look at support and feature forums, there are basic features that users have been asking for years, that are still not implemented. Connection and sync issues aside, Mint's math isn't always right either. I don't think Mint is completely useless, nonetheless, it sucks compared to what customers expect. Simple appears to have much more robust budgeting tools - too bad they are stuck with their "use our debit card crap"
I am probably the least biased person when it comes to technology - I love Apple's hardware and software, I hate Apple maps and iTunes, but I love Google Maps and I hate Google Search. I like Bing as my search engine - Bing is nice, I'll give Microsoft that.
Most other products, historically are crap. Microsoft always half-asses things and comes up with products that are irrelevant to the end user. Windows 8? I'd say it's a failure of epic proportions. Microsoft doesn't seem to care about the user experience - I always get a feeling that someone at Microsoft was thinking "Oh, we are getting stale, so we need to do something new - let's come up with this entirely new UI, but we're not really going to put any thought into how it is designed, and we are definitely not going to pay attention to detail".
In OS terms, Windows was always ages behind OS X and Linux IMO - but at least Windows 7 was "perfected", or as close to "perfected" as Microsoft can get. Ever since I switched to OS X, I have not used Windows willingly, and that's 3 years.
Half of these are from Beta versions and do no longer occur... But nice catches, there are definitely somethings that could be improved, but others are just up to personal preference and interpretation.
Analysis & Design? Looking at the problem at hand, looking at the code we have, what can be done to implement what the business wants, access the impacts to other layers of the application, document everything, set up reviews
That's a nice site - if you just want to compare the search algorithms. (I chose Bing) But today for most people search results are more than just pure ordering of links - people want integration, people want easy-click access to content and social media. I realize that's not the case for everyone, but for a lot of users, these features matter, so stripping them away does not do the search engines true justice
I agree with gnosis...it is depressing. I guess the point I was trying to make is that Google is not the only player in this game, and from a dev perspective, it's important to pay attention to Bing and optimize your SEO for Bing as well. From a consumer's perspective, given the two choices - I think people would see some advantages from Bing. But I agree - it would be amazing to have a non-profit search engine, something ran by Mozilla maybe..
I think it is mildly ridiculous how much attention "Glass" receives. The concept behind the product seems remotely OK, however from all the initial reviews this seems like yet another failed Google experiment. Poor, buggy software, and bulky hardware that looks like a joke - I'd be embarrassed to wear those. I think people really need to stop spinning the whole Google Glasses topic, they don't really deserve the attention.
I don't get it - am I not going to be able to get an install of Photoshop anymore? If so, then that sounds like a HORRIBLE strategy, since by far not every person is always connected to the internet, never mind high-quality internet.
Alright. The product seems pretty good, especially the marketing and the spin. But I would have to place it in the category of "cool gadgets that you don't really need". For $20-30, this might be a cool thing to try. But I am not going to shell out $70 for a little tool that will tell me how efficient I am or where I parked my car. People have been parking cars without GPS systems for years just fine. And oh, want to help me be more efficient on the road? I think that people who are serious about saving money already know to now accelerate fast, drive over 65, etc.
I disagree with this post. Never had any issues with expedia. Always use them for air/hotel bookings and they are awesome. They do a really good job filtering out the junk "non-chain" hotels and making clear to the buyer that what they are getting it high quality.
I used to log on and get addicted to watching things that came up in suggested channels/videos, now I don't really learn about any new channels unless I go about deliberately searching for them. Bummer.
I agree 100%. Windows 8 is a major step backwards. I tried to get used to it for about 2 weeks, and as a developer, I can say that it is slowing me down big time. Not intuitive, buggy, ugly, distracting UI.
NO. NO. NO.
This is exactly why styling in HTML failed. Things work great when they are broken down anatomically into specific functions. Let's not try to put all of our eggs in one basket.
