Can it be done in rust ?
anoy8888··on Fact checking of claims about nuclear power projects
The only way to win here is to make it expensive to produce lies . Make people take responsibility of the consequences and punish them .

anoy8888··on How to Start Google
Don’t underestimate that mindset either. It is want set people apart in most cases. Determination can go a long way than IQ or other resources.
anoy8888··on AutoDev: Automated AI-driven development by Microsoft
Agree. We developers try to create AI to replace ourselves first while making the bosses rich
anoy8888··on Rich Text in Firebase
Content creators just format the content using whatever tool they like. After you hire developers, you ask them to style the text based on content format . Style will be part of the app codebase . In firebase , you only store the text , not the style
anoy8888··on Show HN: Teable – Open-Source No-Code Database Fusion of Postgres and Airtable
They are not true open source if they have a pricing page

anoy8888··on OpenAI's employees were given two explanations for why Sam Altman was fired
This is the most likely scenario. Adam wants to destroy OpenAI so that his poop AI has a chance to survive
anoy8888··on I deeply regret my participation in the board's actions
So is Adam D'Angelo the true villain who is still insisting on the bad decision? I am confused, to be honest .

anoy8888··on The TRON Project: How Japan almost ruled IT (2022)
I am from Asia. If you think America is bad , wait till China becomes the number one power. You will realize the difference between a bully and a hitler
anoy8888··on Meta in Myanmar
I have friends who live in Myanmar and can confirm the ground situation was a lot worse. When all your see are hate speech posts ( about beheading or at best driving away these low lives), it normalizes the hate and dehumanize the victims. History was full of atrocities like this . Free speech is great to have . But violence propaganda is a real problem. You see some of that in America too.

Edit : to give people who don’t bother to read the article some idea, many villages were burned down and before that happened , women got raped and killed , the entire village were looted and then killed and then they burned down the villages. The goal was to create fear so that the victims would have no choice but flee their own country. It worked .

anoy8888··on Show HN: Super fast/cheap text-to-speech API
Anyone knows a good open source alternative what natural sounding voices ?
anoy8888··on Be My Eyes’ AI assistant starts rolling out
OpenAI whisper api has 50 request per min rate limit . It means that I can’t have more than 50 concurrent users . If you are building a consumer app, this seems like a no go. I believe gpt4 has similar rate limits. How do you work wine that rate limit to server tens of thousands of users
anoy8888··on Show HN: A JavaScript function that looks and behaves like a pipe operator
I don’t like the syntax . But pipe operator concept is great for helping you think about your program as a series of data transformation steps . I just write my simple pipe function and use it . No need for library .
anoy8888··on We are beginning to roll out new voice and image capabilities in ChatGPT
The rate of progress is too fast . I need to make enough money within the next three years
anoy8888··on Unpacking Elixir: Resilience
Seeing a lot of rust , elixir, JavaScript but not seeing much clojure . Wonder how clojure compares to elixir in terms of developer productivity
anoy8888··on Unpacking Elixir: Resilience
Some dumb questions: for liveview web / liveview native, is it possible to save rendered code offline and every time it connects to server , it will first check a defined version number ,if the version changes , it will update the code. If the the version is the same or if there is no internet connection, it will use stored code. Perhaps Elixi can be used this way for offline apps while maintaining the dynamic server rendering feature
anoy8888··on Tell HN: Corporate Transparency Act Will Be Bad
If you don’t like the transparency, there is always the option moving to another country that don’t care about corporate corruption
anoy8888··on Show HN: Corgi – on-demand, 1-on-1 tutoring
Per minute is a terrible pricing strategy. It invokes nervousness just by hearing about it. The founders are probably newbies in business. Your minimum pricing unit should be 30 min or more. Or perhaps it should be a monthly subscription model of various pricing layers (limited by number of sessions per month for example )
anoy8888··on Java 21 makes me like Java again
Wow
anoy8888··on Java 21 makes me like Java again
If you like jvm, use closure instead.
anoy8888··on Java 21 makes me like Java again
This is correct. It is about culture too. Java is the kind of language that attracts some mediocre programmers who produce mediocre code based on the wrong ideas of object oriented programming. of course, there are great Java programmers. It is just that a better programming language would help average programmers like us to achieve more
anoy8888··on Ask HN: What would you use to build a mostly CRUD back end today?
