anonbanker··on Firefox is dead to me – and I'm not the only one who is fed up
It's really depressing that you've been downvoted to grey. People don't even have coherent reasons to dislike the browser.
anonbanker··on Firefox is dead to me – and I'm not the only one who is fed up
"crypto-aligned" is such a gigantic red herring.

so use the --disable-features flag at runtime?

maybe go into brave://flags and disable the wallet?

or just admit you're only against Brave because Brendan Eich privately donated $2,000 to a failed CA Proposition?

anonbanker··on Firefox is dead to me – and I'm not the only one who is fed up
Brave re-implemented everything uBlock Origin does, and did it in Rust.
anonbanker··on Occurences of swearing in the Linux kernel source code over time
Imagine being so humorless as to purport that laughing at a joke is somehow equivalent to a form of torture.
anonbanker··on Occurences of swearing in the Linux kernel source code over time
Imagine even entertaining the idea that laughter is a bad thing.
anonbanker··on Matrix Is Cooked
I'm grateful for the author for showing me SimpleX-Chat[0]. I'm an avid Matrix user, but communication tools that weren't birthed from a political hivemind are important tools to support, especially when you're being told that the opposite is true. In this case, the communication tool seems to be grounded in interesting ideas that preserve privacy more than Matrix seems to be capable of doing.

anonbanker··on "Localhost tracking" explained. It could cost Meta €32B
Oh, this is bigger than just Android. SDP munging can cause all sorts of havoc on desktop clients as well. Bit of a blind spot in WebRTC implementations.
anonbanker··on Former US President Biden diagnosed with 'aggressive' prostate cancer
The (Special Council) Robert Hur tapes with Biden leaked. Jake Tapper's book was released. Both evidence significant cognitive impairment in a sitting president. 25th Amendment can be applied retroactively.

They needed something to shift that cycle, and distract.

anonbanker··on Tesla Motors Linux Kernel
Oooh, kernel 5.4 This means that Teslas are vulnerable to every exploit discovered since, and anyone wanting to gain full access to the system has a multitude of tools to get there.
anonbanker··on Tesla's Beer-Serving Optimus Robot Was Controlled by a Human the Whole Time
I don't buy it. The only evidence is the robot itself saying something vague. Their insistence based on flimsy evidence just screams irrational hate intended to inflame confirmation bias.

by the time Trump made that statement, there were 60 million views, which is a different metric than the active viewers.
anonbanker··on Bpftop: Dynamic real-time view of running eBPF programs
Is there a way that a program can obfuscate itself from being visible from bptop?

eBPF is an alarmingly large attack surface I would like to minimize.

anonbanker··on Apple Intelligence for iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Ubuntu, sadly, is not a good experience for a multitude of reasons outside of Canonical's control, including codec and software licensing restrictions.

Gamers should absolutely be heading towards Nobara Linux (Fedora-based, created by GloriousEggroll of Proton-GE fame). Developers should be trying Omakub. Grandma and Grandpa should be using Linux Mint.

anonbanker··on Apple Intelligence for iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Trying Omakub in the next 48-72 hours. I can't wait. It looks like the curated experience I've been looking for.

Does anyone else roll their eyes when someone mentions "late stage capitalism" anymore? The meme has started literal decades ago, and the end-stage never seems to materialize, in any country, ever.

Just making linux more appealing for the subset of the population that doesn't want to hook into skynet's subpar UX.

I'm sure a simple Webkit vulnerability (there's none of those, ever, right?) will definitely not ensure that Semantic Index is featured in a future pwn2own competition.

And nobody cares about how absolutely terrifying your statement truly is, because the shiny benefits obfuscate the destruction of privacy, despite Apple's reassurances.

anonbanker··on FDA: Do Not Use Cue Health's Covid-19 Tests Due to Risk of False Results
I'm sure I'm going to get greyed for this reply, as well as for being a stickler for terms such as "vaccine" keeping their traditional meanings, but I may have an answer for you.

If you, like me, avoided the mRNA gene therapy injections, but still attend barbecues and other get-togethers, it's a good way of confirming that you were the recipient of spike proteins from one of the injected. Sunday before last (8 days ago), I was gifted Covid-19 a third time since Easter 2020 (took a test to be sure) from a bowl of spicy Fuego Takis at a barbecue, likely from licking my fingers clean of all the powder rather than washing them with soap and water.

The reason it was worth confirming that it was Covid was because of the irregular heartbeat I had during the first two days of the illness, and I wanted to make sure it wasn't something unrelated. Post-testing, I knew that 50mg daily zinc and vitamin C & D megadoses was all I needed for the rest of the week.

your reply only makes sense if Argentina is only 24 years old. It is not.
anonbanker··on General Strike Brings Argentina to a Halt over Milei Austerity Program
The fact that you're greyed-out is interesting. In this same reply thread, there's someone alluding to far-right media outlets being "pro-fascist"[1] with positive post karma, while saying a far-left media outlet is communist has people actively downvoting you. Fascinating that the user moderation is so obviously biased in this instance.

anonbanker··on 16 years of CVE-2008-0166 – Debian OpenSSL Bug
Every day, Ted Unangst is vindicated more and more[1] for his work forking OpenSSL.

If you do a little digging, you'll see that there was no real technical reason why your distro of choice has abandoned implementing LibreSSL[2][3], or just never implemented it at all[4]. They just somehow wanted to keep using the faulty software with exploit mitigation countermeasures[5][6]. Totally organic.

anonbanker··on She was accused of faking incriminating video of cheerleaders. Nothing was fake
Some unsolicited advice: Take Jury Duty.

If you're bright and critical, you will be weeded-out early by prosecutors, and you'll see the type of people the prosecutors want deciding a case.

If you're coy enough to play dumb and get selected, you'll get to see the shallow reasons other jurors choose to declare someone guilty.

I was so personally disturbed by my experience as a juror that I pledged to never accept a jury trial if I was wrongfully indicted; I'd rather take my chances on appeal after letting a judge decide my guilt.

anonbanker··on She was accused of faking incriminating video of cheerleaders. Nothing was fake
"Fake News" is an interesting front in a psychological war.

It was coined initially during Barack Obama's administration, shortly after Wikileaks released the Podesta emails. The first public use of the term was by Obama himself, warning people to be wary of non-mainstream or non-state-endorsed media outlets.

Within weeks, Donald Trump had begun using the term with almost the exact opposite definition, successfully twisting the meaning to be yet another name for MSM outlets, to the point that society at large now credits the term with the Republican/MAGA political machine.

Since then, we've seen many terms lose their original meaning and intent. "Woke" was once a term championed amongst the far-left until it too was co-opted into derogation.

Are we seeing the begining of a similar trend for "deepfake"?
