It's not a lie, it's commercial real estate!

- Very high carceral rate
- Slave labor
- Executions, which civilized people don't do
- Undocumented migrants exploited purposefully in agriculture and manufacturing, creating a workforce unlikely to ever complain to anyone
- Even more extreme and unbelievable are the undocumented migrant children who are trafficked and exploited well past any sense of child labor regulations. Some sponsors are working them like a 19th c. London street gang because there is no meaningful oversight or regulation.
Don't fret, the American government is doing all it can to ensure Boeing's investors' MONEY is worth more than a few hundred people who are already dead. Boeing pinky promises it will never, ever happen again. And if it does, it's pilot error.
> "I'm expecting a gold watch from Boeing at the end of my presidency, because I know that I'm on the list of top salesmen at Boeing," Obama deadpanned in 2013.

The irony is the 707 replaced then De Havilland Comet 4, which is much like the 737 MAX today. The difference being Boeing is a strategic defense contractor that is "too big to fail". There are enormous pressures on the FAA to let Boeing slide with a stern warning again.
- Women generally don't murder people
- Women don't typically murder people violently
- Fleeing to a locale where many people look similar to them was crafty
- Changing one's appearance surgically (although the most effective way to change appearance is to alter the nose and cheek structure around the nose)
- She's no chess player having failed to think it through and ran out of money
It's also unsurprising that it happened in Austin because it draws a sort of reckless, narcissistic entitlement.
Demographics doesn't have anything to do with it; it's an attitude problem leading to all manner of manageability and team morale problems. These types of people are unwilling to listen to others and don't consider the needs or abilities of others on the team. They just do their own thing, overengineer things, and knowledge hoard with little or no documentation. It's sad to say but many Ruby developers circa 2011 fit this stereotype because they drank their own KoolAid.
Interestingly, the meat ag and farming employs (no pun intended) similar tactics with undocumented people working in near-or-de facto slavery conditions that are very dangerous. The major meat processing plants in the US advertise salaries in Mexican and Central American newspapers to encourage migration. And, the US immigration system is a Kafkaesque, Byzantine, understaffed nightmare purposefully to keep official immigration meeting socio-political objectives of appearing selective. In truth, it facilitates megacorps importing large numbers of foreign knowledge workers through official channels while criminalizing and marginalizing undocumented people to be under the thumbs of other megacorps monetizing unpleasant work society inconveniently needs to function.
Borland-branded products were the pro versions compared to the Turbo-branded ones.
I watched a grave marker carver absolutely bathing in dust with just a thin bandanna, I was in there for 5 minutes and was left choking in their hazardous work environment.
WitH sufficient PPE and dust control, it's not a problem. This is just barking up the wrong tree because they can't get workers to not be idiots, so they pick a scapegoat to ban at random. It's not fucking asbestos. It's apparent but ineffective motion by expediency.
A similar situation exists with mostly men who work outside and refuse to wear hats or sunscreen but develop malignant melanoma at far greater rates than other groups.
The definition of stupid is someone who believes they can smoke 5 packs a day and not get cancer. But it's the inconsiderateness of someone who doesn't love their family enough to watch out for their own health to not leave them prematurely rather than hurry death along.
Meta is spending over $22 billion on servers in 2023 and again in 2024 without a specific product strategy or need. Build it and depreciation will come. Face it, Zuck is an accidental billionaire who had the advantages of Harvard but is now completely out of his depth and lacks a crystalized vision as to where to go from here. It won't be long before Zuck is shown the door after losing large piles of money and failing to make more of it. I give him 1 year or 2 tops.
GPG works.
If you don't like it, invent something better.
There are plenty of keyservers that are usable. There is a visualization diagram of the forest of replication partners.
Mailvelope makes it sort-of easier, but it also fails at UX because it doesn't support clear signatures. Gmail and such should address this. Proton is an improvement but it doesn't allow using an external GPG key. keybase sort-of solved the scalability of effort problem / barrier that is web of trust, countersigning keys, and the bad UX of keyservers.
There is no readily suitable admixture of keybase, Mailvelope, and Proton that doesn't suck while supporting maximum flexibility.
I left after tagging people in photos became a thing but before "privacy" controls existed.
- A lack of clarity about actual problems. This list conflates too many things together that aren't existential threats and are aspirational values. The actual root-cause threats are climate change, politi-economic inequality, industrial meat & dairy agriculture, antibiotic resistance, pandemics, and war.
- Chicken-little learned helplessness attitude, excusing inaction.
- Lack of leadership resulting in Tragedy of the Commons from unwillingness to be the "adult".
Overpopulation isn't an existential threat. It's been bemoaned since the 1960's. It's bullshit.
The world is already at 30% generation of all energy from renewables and climbing rapidly.
FF extraction won't be as "necessary" and will be replaced by alternative products and processes.
Reality is the reality. Making the future better will take being honest, making difficult decisions soon, and enforcing specific policies to avoid real catastrophes, not academic ones.
