I wonder who can recall a time when Silicon Valley was politically neutral?
anomie31··on US threatens EU digital services market access
I'm not read reading that whole screed, I just want to know if there's any regulations that apply to America only.

Otherwise, how can words like "discrimination" even be appropriate?

anomie31··on Whipper: Accurate Audio CD Ripping
That won't create a file that will make it pass the logcheck, just so you know.
anomie31··on Whipper: Accurate Audio CD Ripping
That will be a contentious subject, there really is no golden standard. I subscribe to The QF Bible personally, and I have configured Picard as such (feel free to ask how if you're interested) https://musichoarders.xyz/reference/bibles/the-qf-bible/
anomie31··on Whipper: Accurate Audio CD Ripping
Orpheus allows whipper and gives it the same rating as EAC and XLD when the cache is defeated fwiw
anomie31··on Whipper: Accurate Audio CD Ripping
Orpheus will rate appropriate XLD and whipper logs as 100% fwiw

Also I could be wrong, but don't most trackers still accept rips that they consider inferior, but then they could be trumped by someone else that made an EAC rip?

anomie31··on FCC commissioner wants TikTok removed from app stores over spying concerns
I'm pretty sure ByteDance does license music. I don't know if they license all of it, but I'm pretty sure the RIAA or ASCAP could easily get an injunction if they didn't license any music that was theirs.
anomie31··on Russian news channel RT to broadcast on Rumble after Big Tech curbs
No one in the US government is forcing their hand here, and freedom of speech includes freedom from compelled speech, or the compelled platforming of others.
anomie31··on Show HN: API to query catalogs of 20 streaming services across 60 countries
This is really cool, but could I have a dataset instead of an API, for any price?
anomie31··on Roku releases IDK to allow consumers to develop applications for their Roku
This is a nice throwback to the time Roku has a public SDK for their HD1000 https://web.archive.org/web/20040605002125/http://www.rokula...
anomie31··on A math tutor teaching calculus on Pornhub
Luckily, YouTube is not the web, and the web is still open, so anyone can share videos on their own terms, even from their own house if they wanted to.
anomie31··on TX Bans Local Nurses from Quitting to Work FEMA Crisis Contracts in State
I'm so confused, I really thought Texas had at-will employment?

anomie31··on Show HN: A music delivery service built around the WebAudio API
Sure, but I expected a per-artist feed, so that I could be alerted of new tracks from by favorite artists from my RSS reader.
anomie31··on Show HN: A music delivery service built around the WebAudio API
No RSS feeds. D:
anomie31··on America's Cities Are Unlivable. Blame Wealthy Liberals.
Isn't the problem not so much liberals but the perverse incentives created by a housing market in a globalized economy?
anomie31··on FBI has seized Deep Dot Web and arrested its administrators
Maybe RICO?
anomie31··on Public APIs: A collective list of free APIs
I wondered why too, so I reverted the commit that added the add, pulled in some PRs, and pushed it here. I plan to keep it up to date if there's any interest. https://notabug.org/anomie/public-apis
anomie31··on Adiantum: encryption for the low end
Never mind, I didn't finish reading.

What was wrong with chacha?
anomie31··on Nothing Can Stop Google. DuckDuckGo Is Trying Anyway
Isn't "Kodak moment" a counterexample?
anomie31··on Re-decentralizing the Web, for good this time
By RDF did you mean RDF/XML specifically? JSON-LD is still RDF, it's just serialized differently, which is fine, I like RDF, but OP may have more specific concerns than the syntax.
anomie31··on The Big Hack: How China Used a Tiny Chip to Infiltrate Amazon and Apple
Sounds like a great idea, but who will fund it?
anomie31··on FRAMES – A Framework for Representing Knowledge (1974)
