anildigital··on Ask HN: How do you stay fit?
Fitness - I go to the gym 3-4 times a week. I spent 1-2 hours there. I am doing weight lifting. I also run some days. It's a discipline I am trying to maintain.

Diet - I do a fast on Mondays and don't eat anything heavy after 6 pm every day.

Sleep - I try my best to sleep at least 6-7 hours every day, usually go to bed around 9 pm.

I hope that helps.

Wow! (I was early adopter and heavy use of del.icio.us) What about you?

anildigital··on 600k concurrent websocket connections on AWS using Node.js (2015)
This is a very typical diplomatic answer to stick with old, known programming languages.
anildigital··on 600k concurrent websocket connections on AWS using Node.js (2015)
@runj__ You should read this blog post by Brex founder. He really says how Elixir suited well to the problem they were trying to solve https://medium.com/brexeng/why-brex-chose-elixir-fe1a4f31319...
anildigital··on 600k concurrent websocket connections on AWS using Node.js (2015)
From this https://www.ycombinator.com/topcompanies/ Brex, Podium, PagerDuty use Elixir. They are in top YC companies, not a surprise.
anildigital··on 600k concurrent websocket connections on AWS using Node.js (2015)
I don't get point of using Node.js when compared to something like Elixir. Elixir's Phoenix can handle more numbers of concurrent connections as well as provide reliability with better programming abstractions, distribution, pretty good language.
anildigital··on Apple Music Web Client
For https://tools.applemusic.com/ yes. Not sure about https://beta.music.apple.com/
anildigital··on Ask HN: Is there any large scale product/startup that uses Node.js primarily?
These are usual suspects. All these companies are multi stack. Node.js is not a primary language there.
anildigital··on Firefox 68.0
I don’t see Firefox for iOS support to increase or decrease font size support yet. Safari for iOS 13 has it.
anildigital··on Spotify adds 1M unique listeners in India in less than a week
Most of them talking about price and free tier. But I think good apps and good service is what can attract more listeners to Spotify. Their app is world class and a good competition to Apple Music. They have huge collection of curated playlists and new generation surely loves listening international albums and not just local music. I think they are going to grow faster and become a good competition to JioSaavn, Gaana, Wynk. There is a high chance some of them are going to shut down soon.
anildigital··on Ask HN: Common Patterns for Resiliency in Distributed Systems
Having worked with Elixir for a small web app and these days exploring Akka. I am curious how you are able to achieve above resiliency patterns compared something Akka offers. Fundamentals wise these are concepts, but I am doubtful of handling these concerns properly without Actor model. I haven't read many comparisons between Kubernetes and fault tolerant abstractions such as supervisors etc that Akka provides. Hopefully, you would cover those.
anildigital··on AWS Media Services – Process, Store, and Monetize Cloud-Based Video
So in our app, we need to post process .webm and .opus files to create a single mp4 video file. I think this can be done with " AWS Elemental MediaConvert"

Then we need to stream the .mp4 files from Amazon S3 to user's browsers when they start playing. I guess 'AWS Elemental MediaLive' solves that streaming problem for us.

Can someone confirm if this is right? Or AWS Elemental is too much for above kind of tasks. Thanks.

anildigital··on Working hard is overrated
Agreed completely! People have wrong faith about working hard that it would help in bringing out something useful and cool. One should clearly know why he is working hard and is it really worth to work hard for.
