Page is invalid because it does not include the Mastodon logo.
andypiper··on Ambient Co-Presence
Immediately reminded me of a similar term for something slightly different, from about 15 years back - Ambient Intimacy. https://www.disambiguity.com/ambient-intimacy/

andypiper··on Mastodon 4.2 released, with (opt-in) search, and UX improvements
Lots of small improvements across the user experience, and opt-in search, make this an important release. New iOS app release with it as well.
andypiper··on Kris Nóva has died
Incredibly sad news. Best talk I went to at FOSDEM this year. I was in awe of what she had done with Hachyderm and Nivenly - among other things.

A big loss to the community, and to her friends and family. RIP.

andypiper··on Is Open Graph Protocol Dead?
I attempted to find out, myself, about 6 months ago - and quickly hit an information vacuum. It exists, it is widely-used, but as you found, that’s about it - there’s no recent or new activity, and no signs of life or vitality. Thanks for writing this!
andypiper··on Ask HN: Where have all the forums gone?
I'm a member and regular user of ~21 Discourse-based forum communities. I also use a phpBB forum where there's currently a discussion about moving to something more modern, Discourse vs GitHub Discussions being the main options debated. However, I'd have to say that Discord and Reddit have either replaced or supplemented most of these (largely software and technology) forums.

andypiper··on Updates to the Twitter developer platform
The bookmarks API is being worked on and is on the roadmap https://t.co/roadmap
andypiper··on Twitter early release v2 API conversation tree example
Yes, this could be better. it's in the "..." menu in the Twitter website and iOS and Android apps, but not currently available in other apps.
andypiper··on Twitter early release v2 API conversation tree example
We're working on the API for Bookmarks right now. Hoping we can ship this before too long. https://trello.com/c/qztXMWCK/76-bookmarks-v2-twitter-api

andypiper··on Twitter is opening up its full archive to the broader developer community
Sorry to hear that. We have a public API roadmap and a plan. What were you building previously?
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
That’s a custom annual package based on requirements and partnership. The premium packages are month-to-month billing.
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
It points out that Gnip is not “invite only” - it is an enterprise subscription product.
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/tweets/search/overview...
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
That's categorically not the case - the index for the search API has always been around 7 days since Twitter acquired Summize (which is where the search API came from). There was never an artificial limitation such as the one you're describing. From the page you're linking to from the archive:

"The Search API is not complete index of all Tweets, but instead an index of recent Tweets. At the moment that index includes between 6-9 days of Tweets."

Scraping the Twitter website is against the terms of service and may result in permanent suspension of access.

andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
thanks - we'll look into that.
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
Gnip is Twitter's enterprise API business with annual subscriptions to firehose and decahose access. This is month-to-month billing for improved API access and data quality.
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
The Sandbox is real live Twitter data, free access, but a smaller number of requests, no counts endpoint, and no enrichments.
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
the webhook-based Account Activity API is in beta now and on the roadmap for general availability.
andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
Thanks for the note - working on that. https://developer.twitter.com/en/pricing should work.

There's free sandbox access, and then tiered pricing for increased access and additional features like counts and the enrichments.

andypiper··on Introducing Twitter premium APIs
The only premium API we've announced today is 30-day search, but watch the roadmap (https://t.co/roadmap) for future updates.
andypiper··on New APIs to power customer engagement in Direct Messages
I believe Tweetings for Android has been updated to do so already.
andypiper··on New APIs to power customer engagement in Direct Messages
In the early stages where we are now, we're finding the new architecture pretty robust. There's an acknowledgement back on our side with webhooks responses, so we can build features that ensure your apps never miss an activity.
andypiper··on New APIs to power customer engagement in Direct Messages
I cannot say definitively, but I don't believe there are plans to lower any limits. Additionally, given that the existing standard Search API has not been significantly enhanced in several years and the replacement is going to be based on the enterprise offerings, I'd expect the quality of the data to be a lot better than what you receive on the search endpoint today.
andypiper··on New APIs to power customer engagement in Direct Messages
Yes, that's correct at the moment.
andypiper··on New APIs to power customer engagement in Direct Messages
That's a really good piece of feedback that I'll be sure to pass along. In terms of plans and pricing, we're not yet announcing those details, but stay tuned as the new APIs we reference in the two blog posts today mature. We'll continue to offer free access to the APIs as well.
andypiper··on New APIs to power customer engagement in Direct Messages
Nothing specific to announce at the moment, but yes, that's the direction that we refer to in the blog post - a new developer portal that would enable you to scale via tiered pricing in the future (but that remains free to use for standard access).
