andy-x··on A Tesla has crashed backing out of a garage
It was probably distracted while browsing internet for news on new iPhone.
andy-x··on New data on college majors confirms old trend: technocracy is crushing humanism
I think many colleges like to attract a lot of international students these days (who are paying with hard cash). I doubt that many international students would ever go into humanities/social studies. Could that be a reason for relative shrinking of those majors? In general more hard statistics would be useful here.
andy-x··on California teacher pension debt overwhelms school budgets
Nope, I want to fix broken system. I'm not saying teachers should get SSA and nothing else, like with many other businesses 403(b) should be available for them. Point is that their future pension should be paid with their current investment, not some future obligations.
andy-x··on California teacher pension debt overwhelms school budgets
"Teachers don’t get social security, and unlike firefighters or police officers, most retirees earn modest pensions of about $55,000 a year."

$55,000 is a modest pension? That is a lot more than social security is paying. Maybe we should move teachers to SSA?

andy-x··on iPhone crashing bug likely caused by code added to appease Chinese government
As a bonus Apple should add a bug that crashes US-region messenger every time someone types Trump or reads Trump's tweets :)
andy-x··on The Bay Area’s tech boom in historical and social context
Gentricide then :)
andy-x··on The Bay Area’s tech boom in historical and social context
Short answer: no.
andy-x··on The Bay Area’s tech boom in historical and social context
Ending Prop. 13 will not solve anything. If more people want to live here they need to build more housing. You instead proposing to kick out people who already live here just because they cannot afford to pay much higher taxes. Sounds pretty close to genocide to me.

And in the first place who said that taxes proportional to property prices is the best economically viable option? Are schools or police or roads become proportionally more expensive with rising property prices?

andy-x··on Microsoft acquires Github
They don't need to literally kill, they can just make many useful features internal to Microsoft developers, or make some features that are free now subscription-only.
andy-x··on Evidence Found for a New Fundamental Particle
If you understand Schrodinger equation then you probably understand what wave function is - it's just a field of some kind. In quantum theory everything comes in quanta, and the quantum of the field is what we call a particle.
andy-x··on India’s IT industry laid off more than 56k employees this year
56k is soooo old, we have broadband already.
andy-x··on [dead]
There was no sex under Socialism, I am a living proof of that :) Seriously, if you are talking about USSR you should not mention sex, there was none.
andy-x··on ‘The American dream is not working out here’
“We make over $1m between us, but we can’t afford a house,” - lying hypocrites. They probably cannot afford $20M house, but there are plenty $2M houses around even in relatively expensive areas.
andy-x··on Data on the uselessness of LinkedIn endorsements
I believe endorsements on LI are fake. I'm receiving endorsements for random things from my former and current co-workers and I know for sure they never sent any (either because I asked them or I know it's entirely outside their expertise).
andy-x··on Let’s not demonize driving, just stop subsidizing it
Good roads are incentive to drive, let's destroy all roads then.
andy-x··on New Zealand Is ‘the Future,’ Peter Thiel Said in His Push for Citizenship
All billionaires are filthy scum and must be deported to wherever their other citizenship is and never allowed to return to US
