andros··on Finger: the 1971 social network that never died
I added his name to the article and dedicated it to him. Thank you for the suggestion.
andros··on Finger: the 1971 social network that never died
I'm doing it myself, it's a stream of my .plan: https://andros.dev/now/

Wow! Thank you!

Great work!

Perhaps a global database or a parallel project like a search engine focused on fingering is needed. The sources are scattered, and clients like yours would greatly benefit from that.

I'd also like to mention that if you have Emacs, I also have my own client: https://git.andros.dev/andros/efinger.el

I'm dying! Using Telnet to flirt. The father of Tinder XD
andros··on Finger: Social network that never died
Fantastic! How lovely to read these stories. And what influences Id has had on Finger.

andros··on HTML over WebSockets: real-time SPAs with barely any JavaScript
Thank you for sharing your experience and story! Amidst the noise, it's rewarding. Good luck with your compositions.

I'm very happy to know that I've made you think, and that you've wisely chosen SSE for absolutely all cases. That's what a senior professional often does: limit themselves to one technology.
andros··on HTML over WebSockets: real-time SPAs with barely any JavaScript
I'm learning a lot. Technology is full of nuances and details.

I wish! It would have saved so many hours and drafts….

Thank you! :)
andros··on Show HN: textlog – A quiet, text-only microblogging platform, open-source, no JS
It's not necessary. I almost always use iOS.

I would like to invite you to read this article: https://en.andros.dev/blog/ba142044/twtxt-vs-org-social-the-... What do you think?
andros··on I added a real-time chat to my blog, people used it to attack me
You're giving me statements and advice without knowing either the hardware I use or the tools. I don't have the resources to do this kind of massive testing; if you're up for doing it yourself, I'd be happy to update the data.
andros··on I added a real-time chat to my blog, people used it to attack me
Since you seem so knowledgeable about this, why don't you do it yourself? The code is available in the repository. I'm sure you'll do much better than I can.
andros··on I added a real-time chat to my blog, people used it to attack me
50 is the hardware limit, not a personal choice. The code is free and accessible from the article itself. If you can run tests with more, I'd be happy to update the graphs and the conclusion.
andros··on I added a real-time chat to my blog, people used it to attack me
How would you have approached it?
andros··on Modern email can be built from borrowed parts
My goal isn't to replace anything else; it's a (game) theory exercise. Companies with more resources and influence try to provide an improved solution without leaving a trace. Is it possible to create a better solution with standard tools? Yes! :)
andros··on Modern email can be built from borrowed parts
I disabled the chat for visitors without JavaScript; I hope this improves your experience. As for the other points, they are design choices. Thank you for your feedback.

P.S.: For future interactions, please message me privately like everyone else. This is not the right place for this.

andros··on Write in Markdown, serve it dynamic
If you think about it, it's not very different from an RSS feed. And we don't consider the internet to be dead.
andros··on Write in Markdown, serve it dynamic
The article explains that saving tokens is an SEO technique.
andros··on Write in Markdown, serve it dynamic
The problem is that only the human visitor may use JavaScript.
andros··on What it means for an API to be RESTful
A few years ago I would have 100% agreed with you, but now with LLMs they may have made sense again.
andros··on What it means for an API to be RESTful
Let me clarify: this was written by one person, by me. However, I received help with spelling mistakes, false friends, and a few connectors. Thank you!
