andrewpbrett··on The Rise and Fall of Design Within Reach
That's funny you ask - I did think for a second about which link to provide. I went with the print version because the article is six pages long and I prefer not to have my reading interrupted. But that's me.

Maybe ask Jason Fried: http://twitter.com/jasonfried/status/6373239390

andrewpbrett··on In Silicon Valley, Settlers is the New Golf
these are all great - very creative! I suspect a few of them will work their way into any future games I'm a part of.
andrewpbrett··on Statistical Learning as the Ultimate Agile Development Tool (Peter Norvig)
That makes a bit more sense - I'll buy it. Thanks.

oh, jeez, just saw this. face palm
andrewpbrett··on [dead]
right, but my point was that if you give it one less data point, i.e.

0,1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256

it detects the pattern, but if you tack on the 512 it duffs it.

andrewpbrett··on [dead]
That's kind of interesting - I wonder why that sequence is off and yet:

0,1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256

and

0,1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024

come back accurately.

andrewpbrett··on Statistical Learning as the Ultimate Agile Development Tool (Peter Norvig)
It's a very interesting talk - but the title is misleading (title is the same in the submission as in the source). Norvig focuses on statistical learning and how that can be used to infer the meaning of words and the appropriate results in searches, particularly image searches. How these approaches tie into agile development, or any software development really, is given at best a cursory pass with a couple mentions that I, for one, wasn't able to follow. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it never did.

I'd love to be told that I'm wrong or that I'm missing something here, so if anyone wants to enlighten me on the connection, please go for it.

andrewpbrett··on "Ayn Rand's Revenge" - NYTimes Book Review of new Rand biography
Agreed. The conclusions from the reviewer in that section didn't make much sense to me either. I'm also glad to see that some people are actually focusing on the content of the submission instead of the usual politics. There are some interesting tidbits in the review (and no doubt the book as well).
andrewpbrett··on Script to get emails when someone unfollows you on twitter
Fair enough - but "nice" has nothing to do with it. If you're using Twitter, as many are, to get a message out, it's useful to know who no longer thinks your message is interesting, especially if you can pair it with a cause (a recent tweet that may have been offensive or a string of self-centered tweets, e.g.).

Like I said, I was just tinkering around and thought I'd share something I made that might be useful to someone.

andrewpbrett··on Script to get emails when someone unfollows you on twitter
... and the stereotype probably fits :)

I was just playing around with the API and thought I'd do this a quick little exercise. Once it worked, I thought I'd share. Thanks for the kind words.
