anc84··on Google Earth Reverse Engineering
That's not an error, just a warning. You can proceed using it just fine.
anc84··on Android vendors, don’t kill my app
A bouncer is not a satisfying answer, then I could just use something web-based anyways.

My Android tablet is on a stable WiFi network at home...

anc84··on Android vendors, don’t kill my app
Can I run XMPP or IRC on an iphone by now or does it still only receive messages when foregrounded?
anc84··on Google Earth Reverse Engineering
Could you point to a description of the protocols and formats for the 3D data in that documentation please?
anc84··on Skin printer wipes years from your face [video]
Look at the style, the prepared questions, the orchestration.
anc84··on Most of What We Read on the Internet is Written by Insane People
German wikipedia is plagued by the same
anc84··on Skin printer wipes years from your face [video]
That's a perfect advertisement there being done by the BBC...
anc84··on Using Web Technologies to Print a Book
Because there is more to a book than type-setting and anything like putting images where you want them or specific whitespace aesthetics is a major pain to do in LaTex.
anc84··on Open-source and crowd-sourced book listing
I am a bit sad that you slap your own Amazon affiliate tag on the outgoing links. Crowd-sourcing for your own monetary benefit is quite meh in my book.

Please consider following a model like https://www.bookzilla.de/ who forward 100% of their affiliate income to the Free Software Foundation. Maybe you could donate to the many FOSS projects your site builds upon?

anc84··on Mapping and visualization
You could create things like that in free software like QGIS or Blender (if you need real 3D lighting).
anc84··on Ledger Nano X – A Bluetooth-enabled secure device that stores private keys
It was edited some time after my post. Original title was "Ledger Nano X - Secure your crypto".

Please review https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html

anc84··on Ledger Nano X – A Bluetooth-enabled secure device that stores private keys
To safe you the click (unless you want to see a fantastically cringe-worthy advertisement video):

> The Ledger Nano X is a Bluetooth® enabled secure device that stores your private keys. Make sure all your crypto assets are safe, wherever you go.

anc84··on Show HN: DPAGE – build and publish webpages on the decentralized internet
Couldn't I simply cryptographically sign my content instead?
anc84··on The unknown hackers (2000)
Thank you!

And I am certain that there are "more famous" (whatever that might mean) programmers individuals do not know because of different interests and disciplines.

anc84··on The unknown hackers (2000)
> Open-source pioneers Bill and Lynne Jolitz may be the most famous programmers you've never heard of.

Aaaand the tab is closed as my expectations for the story were some hyperbole nonsense.

"An Article about Bill and Lynne Jolitz who wrote an open-source Unix pretty much at the same time Linus Torvalds did but failed to gain any traction" for anyone else who still has an open mind for reading. ;)

anc84··on Show HN: DPAGE – build and publish webpages on the decentralized internet
Why does this need blockchain for?
anc84··on Venezuela Forcibly Converts Pensions into Petro
I am pretty sure a crypto news website is all about generating real money from nothing.
anc84··on Open Location Code
And it is (falsely[0]) patented, proprietary and generally deemed a bad thing by programmers and geofolk all around. Some previous criticisms:

anc84··on AlphaFold at CASP13: What just happened?
While they might virtually have infinite resources, I would be quite interested in how much this actually cost. Can anyone share estimates?
anc84··on It's all about typography
> However using google fonts in your web projects is always a good idea as their cdn's are lightning fast (and they are free).

No, it is not always a good idea. If you care about your user's privacy a single bit, you should self-host. Easily done thanks to https://google-webfonts-helper.herokuapp.com/fonts

anc84··on It's all about typography
Medium themselves did that to svbtle iirc, so they would have zero ground for complaining about someone else being a dick.
anc84··on Internet Vulnerability Takes Down Google

anc84··on “A Horrifically Bad Idea”: Smartphone Voting Is Coming
Seems fitting for the US, as sad as it is... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationale_for_the_Iraq_War#Bri...
anc84··on Show HN: Adios.ai – Stop email interruptions, receive emails 3 times a day
Before you let a third-party intercept all your mail (WTF) why not simply use a tool like Llama or Easer or Tasker or anything like that for Desktop to selective enable and disable notifications per app for certain times of day?
anc84··on Copyright Office Adds DMCA Exemption for 'Abandoned' Online Games
Does the "or" belong to the affirmative statement or the support not being available no longer?
anc84··on Lion Air crash: Boeing 737 plane crashes in sea off Jakarta
I felt the same as I saw the photo. What a disgustingly heartless way of treating the relatives or even the depicted.
anc84··on Repl.it raises $4.5M from A16Z, Paul Graham, and others
On Linux it is all quite easy.

On Windows, just install WinPython or Thonny and you are good to go.

anc84··on Leonardo da Vinci's tree rule may be explained by wind
Also using those. Weird!
anc84··on Picovoice – Embed private voice AI into any product instantly
> Picovoice is a team of applied scientists and engineers who strive to build a future where our lives are enhanced with ambient voice AIs, while respecting your privacy.

Oh wow, thank you!

I also saw a reference that this is all open-source but https://github.com/Picovoice/ does not have a Picovoice repository. Is it https://github.com/Picovoice/Porcupine?

That website almost freezes Firefox for me after a couple of seconds.

And I cannot do a JavaScript profile as it just locks everything...
