anarchy8··on Americans are rethinking where they want to live
> My 5 year old has to wear a mask 7 hours a day against an illness that doesn't kill kids

This is misinformation: https://www.aap.org/en/pages/2019-novel-coronavirus-covid-19...

anarchy8··on Instagram Is Facebook Now
Social media companies are trying too hard. People just want a chronological feed of things they followed. Nothing more. Stop trying to add shit people don't want.
anarchy8··on React Docs Beta – rewritten with hooks and interactive examples
It really should have Typescript as well (optionally, that is)
anarchy8··on A view to the possible habitability of ancient Venus over three billion years [pdf]
This isn't the Fox News comment section. Nobody cares what you think.
anarchy8··on 'Co-living': the end of urban loneliness or cynical corporate dormitories?
What an authoritarian mindset.
anarchy8··on Betting the Farm on the Drought (2015)
What rights are you referring to? Are those actual rights, or make-believe rights specifically conjured up to discriminate against minorities and groups you don't agree with?
anarchy8··on Betting the Farm on the Drought (2015)
"terrified of those crazy conservatives" - people who want to deny me my rights as a human being, including the right to life.

"terrified of those crazy liberals" - people who want to ensure I have my rights protected, and my wellbeing.

Please don't pretend that both sides (or even the "extremes" of the sides) are the same.

anarchy8··on Betting the Farm on the Drought (2015)
Really sad that the top comment here is from a climate change denialist.
anarchy8··on Betting the Farm on the Drought (2015)
Are you aware that that site is a well-known climate change denialist disinformation site?

anarchy8··on Elizabeth Warren Came Up with a Plan to Break Up Big Tech
Apparently everything.
anarchy8··on Verizon to Sell Tumblr to Automattic
And what's wrong with porn and blogging about genders?
anarchy8··on Fighting persistent Lyme disease symptoms
The article mentions how unreliable testing for Lyme is.
anarchy8··on Hawaii telescope protest shuts down 13 observatories on Mauna Kea
> show indirect displeasure with the conditions Hawaiian natives are currently living in

Is that indirect? This thing is well funded, and obviously people feel like their interests are more important.

anarchy8··on Defining Public Interest on Twitter
This is hardly a serious example of being Orwellian. Out of all the good examples, this isn't one of them.
anarchy8··on Einstein's Science Defied Nationalism and Crossed Borders
The "demos" or people would be any freely associating group of people, which isn't necessarily defined by borders.
anarchy8··on Einstein's Science Defied Nationalism and Crossed Borders
Socialism at the time was inherently international.
anarchy8··on Facebook moderators break NDAs to expose working conditions
I wouldn't, because that would be horrible...
anarchy8··on Outcry as Australian police search public broadcaster
I'm pretty amazed that people on this forum are so quick to jump on the side of an authoritarian right-wing government over press freedom.
anarchy8··on Flying-V: Flying long distances energy-efficiently
Why? That's a perfectly quantifiable claim.
anarchy8··on Almost half of US families can't afford basics like rent and food
What kind of deranged argument is that?
anarchy8··on Gab will become a Mastodon fork
> free speech absolutism

I just did a cursory glance at Gab and I already found 4 antisemitic posts and that was just on the first page.

anarchy8··on U.S. users are leaving Facebook by the millions, Edison Research says
> mostly politics and mostly far left

You're upset that your friends have different political opinions than you? And you're blaming Facebook for this? Why?

anarchy8··on Democrats to push to reinstate repealed 'net neutrality' rules
Free-market capitalism and crony capitalism are subtly different in that way
anarchy8··on Redesigning GitHub Repository Page
I like it. The commits per file don't make sense in the current design, and the tab hierarchy doesn't make sense. I don't like the "flat" redesign though, it was better before.
anarchy8··on Spotify will now suspend or terminate accounts it finds are using ad blockers
This is an arms race that Spotify will loose.
anarchy8··on The Economic Viability of Mars Colonization (1998)
This is super out of date. A lot has changed in our understanding of the livability of mars.
anarchy8··on [dead]
The role of politicians in a representative democracy is to act as a moderating force against the tyranny of the majority.

The pro-brexit camp has been shown to be full of lying propagandists. Another vote seems necessary.

anarchy8··on PyPy.js: Python in the web browser
> This is pretty old, and hasn't seen an update in over a year

So pretty much like every Python project then. What's happening to the Python community?

anarchy8··on The easiest way to keep your web apps accessible: Just use text
How is that ironic? It sounds like the problem was self-inflicted.
anarchy8··on The easiest way to keep your web apps accessible: Just use text
Peter Lowe's list is notoriously overzealous and it's enabled by default. It breaks countless websites and I found other lists to be better.
