anaganisk··on Internet disrupted in Pakistan amid arrest of former PM Imran Khan
Any major/minor form used for communication/currency will be regulated in the end in the name of national security. No amount of democracy, socialism, communism or any ism for the fact cannot overcome it. As long as govts don't behave like a service provider but like a ruling class this won't change. Power corrupts, anyone. Hard limits on power, individuals instead of parties, extreme transparency(including defence, yes), and war free world is the only way we ever achieve freedom. As long as we allow govts to function in secrecy, someone will not care about ethics and morals.
anaganisk··on Apple brings Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro to iPad
Don't u just end the subscription at that point? What am I missing.
anaganisk··on Apple brings Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro to iPad
Aren't our supplies already a subscription? Like we don't purchase lifetime, and we already have credit cards/Monthly installments for any big purchases, at least in my country EMI(Easy monthly installments) is already huge.

You are neither curious nor participating in an intellectual discussion, you are just making statements from thin air.
anaganisk··on Upwork removing 5% commission bracket and moving everyone to 10% bracket
$100 in US is INR8000 in India, if the job timeline is one week, and they took up 4 jobs in a month that is 32,000. Which is more than the entry level software job salary. Upwork is a global company, not just the US market, so thinking in local currency won't make sense. I was on Fiverr 7 years ago I explored it a lot, during my course of finding work there I came across interesting things. There were dedicated shops that took up 10-15 projects a week in the same bracket as u mention, the owner of one such shop bought a Harley Davidson in a year(Harley Davidson bikes cost a lot in India) his shop was 4 fresh out graduates who exclusively built WordPress websites. And there are many such groups. Also funny enough most of the logo/graphic design/video edit jobs a remixes of PSDs/templates found on envato, freelogogenerator etc. You rarely find quality in such sites, you get what you pay for.

Ignore him, he seems too brain washed or part of the propaganda machine. BJP has control of major new channels and controls the media narrative constantly and this guy blabbers on about media being weaponized. They banned a documentary by BBC because it hurt the feelings of Modi, but had no problems with an ex PM during election time and released a movie criticizing him. One of the top BJP leaders recently made a statement saying "Muslims are not equals so they don't deserve equal rights". And I'm pretty sure this guy in comments will be the first one to arrive when, more states pass anti-caste discrimination laws in the US, claiming religious persecution.
anaganisk··on UEFI Secure Boot on the Raspberry Pi
I think the final user or implementor must be a judge of that not us.
anaganisk··on Mojo might be the biggest thing to happen in programming for decades
Why do you want to write UIs with every programming language? I'm curious since, not every language is suited for it or not the use case at all.
anaganisk··on Mojo: The usability of Python with the performance of C
I generally have the same sentiment, but languages I believe are one place where you can actually make money on consultations and support unlike other types of opensource projects.

Dude stop with your propaganda and post links to direct sources which say against something, don't make BS statements out of thin air. You are all over this thread with this BS.

Man you will do great on Wall Street, any bankrupt company will definitely get bailed out if you are at the negotiation table.
anaganisk··on Show HN: Narr – Download Netflix audio for sampling
How long before a cease and desist, dmca and DRM of audio. I think things like this must be left to search to find, not shared.
anaganisk··on UEFI Secure Boot on the Raspberry Pi
There are several industry grade devices based on raspberry pi platform, LOL. Not just media servers. Some people also deploy them outdoors to stuff like weather, ADS-B etc. Some make it into cubesats. Don't just underestimate its use cases.
anaganisk··on So this guy is now S3. All of S3
Like Pied Piper? If yes, there is an entire show on it.
anaganisk··on State-controlled media gain Twitter followers after quiet platform policy change
Your comment reads exactly inverse of the original dropbox comment, sure you can Ctrl+c and ctrl+v in a text file. How are you securing it and why, what does it do. Why do I have to open a text editor, to create an account. Sure I can rsync or host my files on sftp, but there is a reason why Dropbox got more popular than any of those among avg users.

anaganisk··on New Yorkers want to stop landlords from using facial recognition
At a certain point it seems like the start of all shit is targeted ads, just ban em. And all the tracking and targeting magically disappears.
anaganisk··on New Yorkers want to stop landlords from using facial recognition
But but freedom, free market blah blah. That's the argument I receive. I strongly believe the free market only works when a business is small, but not when companies become big.
anaganisk··on Facebook has not been doing enough to comply with a 2020 privacy order: FTC
FB actively uses it, so it's a win win isn't it?

I thought corporations are considered people in US.
anaganisk··on MSFT is forcing Outlook and Teams to open links in Edge and IT admins are angry
Probably works in the US, but their biggest user bases will just switch to another editor. The user bases are coders from China, India and other developing nations. You have no idea how religiously people hate paid/recurring subscription software over there.
anaganisk··on Microsoft quietly supported legislation to make it easier to fix devices
Forced is a strong word here because, do we absolutely know a straight up upgrade might not corrupt something hence they're expecting a clean install? Else you are right.
anaganisk··on MSFT is forcing Outlook and Teams to open links in Edge and IT admins are angry
WSL is a literal VM now, that runs based on Hyper-V afaik, if Vscode degrades on Linux, I'm just not sure how it won't affect WSL too. Whatever happened to using vim, emacs, intelliJ, or tons of other Vscode forks. Vscode is not the baited hook, it's the exclusive integrations (extensions) like remote containers, remote containers etc that are nice to have features not workflow breaking stuff.
anaganisk··on MSFT is forcing Outlook and Teams to open links in Edge and IT admins are angry
Ummm, Github runs on Git. So any feature supported by git will work work with any client other than the official windows client.

Vscode is a text editor/IDE, it has bajillion alternatives, again unless MS doesn't allow code not written in Vscode to GitHub, which is a suicide anyway. There is Bitbucket or Gitlab to fork to.

WSL, is awesome, because Linux is not game friendly, yeah yeah proton blah blah. I own a steam deck I know how it works and for a casual user Linux gaming just isn't there unless you want to tinker a lot. Then there are products like Photoshop replacements for which Linux is sub par, no GIMP is not alternative, it's entirely different. But nothing is stopping other users to switch to Linux unless edge/windows 11 blackholes insert_your_favorite_linux.com. WSL just clicked for a reason.

MS as a company will fight for market share, no company after a certain size is moral, it's "free market" as US defines it. Change laws not companies. Regulate not ask nice. Feels like EU knows this and at least tries to twist the arms of companies where as in US it's seen as infringement of freedom.

Ms gobbling up dev community is fear mongering towards the wrong entity.

anaganisk··on Reddit Data API Update: Changes to Pushshift Access
Not gonna happen, HN is not even a replacement of r/technology. And this site can't handle comment threads after a certain limit. So not really.

I assume you do realize you can still do a clean install (on old CPUs, instead of hitting upgrade, because that's what OP meant.

Worth it in an ideal world, in the real world it's a bad advice to compare given vs earned. We wouldn't have the majority of the companies if the founders didn't have the wealth given for them to bootstrap.
anaganisk··on Apple wins antitrust court battle with Epic Games, appeals court rules
Huh? Apple is a hardware company that built an OS, Google was a software company, that wanted devices to run its OS. There is no comparison here with origins, since they formed an alliance to actually bring out the OS to multiple devices.
