amazingamazing··on Restore full BambuNetwork support for Bambu Lab printers
I have an Ender3 that I use plugging in a microsd card to do prints with. What am I missing here? Seems like you can do the same with these printers. People want to use the cloud?
amazingamazing··on Toxicity on Social Media – The Noisy Room
It’s the same everywhere, including here. Why are downvoted posts greyed out and made harder to read? Why not just display the net vote. Why must your reputation be constantly displayed?

Lobste.rs in these regards are better.

amazingamazing··on I work in Hollywood. Everyone who used to make TV is now training AI
It is interesting to see how all of these folks are out of main work and doing gig work instead, with productions being moved to Canada and other places abroad. I wonder why. All of the strikes?

What software do you use that would be immune to a scenario where you disable all protections to take some action?
amazingamazing··on Plex's price hikes prove I was right to switch to Jellyfin
This is not really a big deal. If you want it organized arbitrarily put the files in other and it will be.
amazingamazing··on Plex's price hikes prove I was right to switch to Jellyfin
Every time I hear of people complaining about paying for software I wonder what people on here do for a living. Is everyone on here getting paid for developing software that’s free?
amazingamazing··on Tesla Model Y Passes NHTSA's New 'Advanced Driver Assistance System' Tests
Neat. I wonder which others will pass. I wonder if safety sense 3 cars will pass too. Speaking of which it’s insane a sienna doesn’t have that. I wish Tesla made a van instead of the cyber truck. Americans and their truck obsession…

amazingamazing··on Google Cloud Fraud Defence is just WEI repackaged
AI use is far more prevalent now than then sadly. This kind of scheme is inevitable since compute is not free.
amazingamazing··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% of its workforce
Which public companies that do NOT sell AI have posted that AI has boosted their revenue?
amazingamazing··on Google Cloud fraud defense, the next evolution of reCAPTCHA
How are people stopping bots reliably?
amazingamazing··on LLMs Are Not a Higher Level of Abstraction
How so?

Suppose you had:

Math() Add() Subtract()

Program() Math(“calculate rate”)

This is intentionally written vaguely. How do you limit that these implementations ensure Program() runs and does the right thing when there is no guarantee Math() or its components are correct?

Normally you could use a typed programming language, unit tests, etc, but if LLM is the ultimate abstraction programs will be written line above. At some point traditional software engineering principles will need to apply.

amazingamazing··on Let's Buy Spirit Air
I dont know of any with such high capex
amazingamazing··on Let's Buy Spirit Air
> The only thing missing is ownership that answers to the people — not to shareholders.

Noble, but this will fail. Why would anyone do this? No incentive.

These sorts of initiatives forget the toil of actually operating a business. You might as well get more pledges given that you'd have more control and the same profit share. It will regress to the same as the status quo.

amazingamazing··on Maryland to ban A.I.-driven price increases in grocery stores
How’s that gonna work when they know your address?
amazingamazing··on Maryland to ban A.I.-driven price increases in grocery stores
The article says loyalty programs and https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Legislation/Details/H... makes no mention of this store restriction. Just retailer.

It’s unclear to me why transportation demand pricing is allowed but not delivery.

I expect the outcome of this to be prices raised for everyone and then loyalty discounts per group.

amazingamazing··on Maryland to ban A.I.-driven price increases in grocery stores
Why grocery stores only? It’s also unclear how this will change anything - don’t the grocery stores in richer areas already charge more? I’ve noticed Whole Foods prices are not the same across all stores even in the same state.
amazingamazing··on If Apple makes an iPad Neo, it's all over
7in iPad with old Apple Watch processors.
amazingamazing··on Alphabet Announces First Quarter 2026 Results
I’m talking multi thousand though. More than a few. Google has never done it other than that 2023 layoff. Google like all mega corps have layoffs all the time though sadly.
amazingamazing··on Alphabet Announces First Quarter 2026 Results
Bing and google do not give you free and unlimited calls. And of course there are many clients… which harness lets you call bing or google on all devices locally?

As far as the premise goes, people on this very site were saying it. The very parent is surprised search is growing.

amazingamazing··on Alphabet Announces First Quarter 2026 Results

amazingamazing··on Alphabet Announces First Quarter 2026 Results
Link? I don’t recall any mass layoffs in 2024, and by mass I mean multi thousand
amazingamazing··on Alphabet Announces First Quarter 2026 Results
In my example there are no search engines. And if there were why would they allow tool calls?
