No clue to whether this is a permanent suspension - or what? I suspect it is since they marketed their apps at the end.
Why not place a solid call-to-action during the advertisement for people to visit their website and sign-up?
All they said was "visit Groupon.com".
All Groupon needs is your e-mail address and a zip code. It seems like they could have baited people with something and really grown their subscriber base?
Am I crazy for thinking that was a wasted opportunity, or does that not work well with such a massive audience?
Maybe the agency they hired only does branding and couldn't fathom the thought of getting direct responses?
Curious.

Google must be perceived as growing roughly 25% per year in order to maintain their current stock price.

Update: Don't mean to sound brash but I'm tired of folks telling me what I should/should not do without giving me some detailed CR datasets, including some demographic data (if possible).
Most of their competitors are in the same situation they are in.
Being the first one to torpedo the other ship and not expecting someone to get upset or God forbid do something awful in return is naive.
I think there is a difference in poaching your competitor's customers and claiming they are "no good".
That was classless.
