Title is a bit misleading. The "little" Atlas near the Atlantic coast isn't usually considered part of the Atlas mountains and is usually called the anti-atlas. The "real" Atlas range is much (much) younger.

The web app used to have a Hangouts sidebar which was replaced by a Hangouts Chat sidebar which was eventually renamed to just Chat.

It's so unintuitive to use for personal calls that I don't think I could ever convince one of my friends or relatives to use it. Having to create a meeting, send the link to someone, then hope they read it while I join the meeting and wait for them is so much more akward than just pressing a video call button like every other app does it.

Looks like it was just a temporary issue with no evidence that's it's due to a word filter.

I actually tried doing something similar with dall-e mini for one of my projects but the results were bad. It was especially struggling to draw the octopus' limbs. It's impressive to see how much better dalle 2 is at the same task, even if the results still aren't good enough for professional use.

Zoning laws and more importantly NIMBYs. I used to live in a city that's currently being taken to court after they cancelled the construction permits for mixed use buildings because a few very vocal citizens didn't want to live next to 4+ floor buildings and managed to get elected to the city council.

I wonder if it works well enough to travel, i.e. does it make it obvious that the phone is in repair mode and does it stop someone from copying an image of your personal data.

I've worked with a few PhD's whose software engineering experience was limited to Matlab scripting. One even refused technical training because that's "not what they're interested in". Another co-worker with a masters still had no idea what they were doing after 4 years working there, often asking the same basic questions at a few weeks interval. Stuff like which branches to merge in a PR or questions that are answered verbatim in a readme file. Having to babysit educated people who refuse or are unable to learn is a great way to get demotivated. When those people start getting promoted to management positions and training junior employees is when things really start to derail.

Google seems like they target by age, gender and income rather than by interests. Sometimes it's convinced I'm a yuppie and keeps showing me luxury cars, personal care/beauty products and high end electronics (when I have zero interest in any of those products).

Not necessarily. If they add a cheaper ad-supported plan without modifying existing plans they can keep growing their number of users. But we all know that once they get a taste of that sweet ad revenue they'll start showing ads to all users.

It's a mix of both imo. Newcomers who don't realize it's satire/trolling and old timers who like the attention, grift opportunity or feeling of leading a movement.
