aleksandrm··on MAPS Celebrates California Senate Passage of Psychedelic Reform Bill
If anyone care to elaborate, does it only mean you will not be prosecuted if they find you in possession of psychedelics, or will this be fully legal where you can buy it from stores/dispensaries?
aleksandrm··on Giving Ada a Chance
Thought this was about accessibility stuff.
aleksandrm··on Laptop stolen from Pelosi's office during storming of U.S. Capitol, says aide
Incorrect. Capitol police is a 2300 officer department with a huge annual budget. The puppets in place were complicit in letting this happen.
aleksandrm··on Winamp for Windows 10
+1 for AIMP, been using it forever and it's rock solid. A great alternative to Winamp.
aleksandrm··on Engineers, not racers, are the true drivers of success in motor sport
And yet the fans would still burn the city down if they won, regardless of the actual relation.
aleksandrm··on Ferrari is bricked during upgrade due to no mobile reception while underground
There was an update to the story. They pushed the car outside but that didn't help so they had to tow it.
aleksandrm··on From an Airtable to $9.2k in Side Income
Are you a guru? Because you sound exactly like a guru. Check out my tweets to see if you might be a guru.
aleksandrm··on Honda quits F1, invests in carbon-free tech instead
If you mean their first years of a hybrid engine era, then yes, they were pretty awful. But their early years in the 80s as an engine supplier were very very succesful.
aleksandrm··on FBI release a report on Russian Linux Malware called Drovorub [pdf]
First thing that came to my mind was woodcutter = logger.
aleksandrm··on Rolling blackouts in California have power experts stumped
> its also worth noting that the nytimes might not be taking into account the number of people working from home. Duty and loadcycles for this year are going to be very hard to predict.

Do you think think the demand would be higher? In parallel, while many people are working from home, the businesses are closed, which I would think eat up much more electricity.

aleksandrm··on Banks are slow to increase rates on savings accounts, but quick to reduce them
Is it a Citibank limit that you only move 10k every N days? I changed banks to Ally last year and had no such issue.
aleksandrm··on Searchable PPP Loan Data
Care to elaborate how could a household receive 4k plus in stimulus? Was it 4 different people who had earned 99k or less in one household?
aleksandrm··on Why are Soviet math textbooks so hardcore in comparison to US textbooks? (2017)
I traveled a lot and studied in international schools, embassy sf schools and schools in USSR as well as US. I was born in USSR so I mainly studied there between my travels, and everything that I saw and experienced came no where close to the curriculum that I had in motherland. So I have to disagree with you.
aleksandrm··on Using Twilio to make a call forwarding and voice messaging system
I would be interested in seeing it if open sourced. I used YouMail in the past and their UI really bugged me, so I was playing around with the idea of building something more modern and self hosted.
aleksandrm··on After alleged 'bait and switch,' Nevada DMV cancels $78M IT contract
Kinda offtopic, but apparently they also own a Formula E team. Big money.
aleksandrm··on Formula 1 e-sports now more exciting than the real thing
They also needed to save fuel, I know Raikonnen did and probably Verstappen too so that was pretty boring when drivers cant push to the max. Add refueling back, make it more exciting. Instead they keep making the rules worse, like changing the number of allowed engines in 2018 from 4 to 3 before penalties kick in
aleksandrm··on Show HN: Appster – Free Bootstrap 4 App Landing Page Template
Bootstrap templates are Show HN material now?
aleksandrm··on There Have Always Existed People Who’ve Simply Wanted to Be Alone
There are plenty of resources on youtube, i found Primitive Technology channel quite enjoyable to watch.
aleksandrm··on The Decline of Imgur on Reddit and the Rise of Reddit's Native Image Hosting
Imgur was more than OK with it. Without Reddit Imgur would not be where it is today.
aleksandrm··on The Decline of Imgur on Reddit and the Rise of Reddit's Native Image Hosting
Afaik, they discontinued offering public links as a way of hosting.
aleksandrm··on Switching From React To Vue.js
Routing is not very complex.
aleksandrm··on Fluent Design System
Watch out, we have a bad ass over here.
aleksandrm··on Vue Loop – Infinite scrolling
Title is a bit misleading, this is not an actual infinite scrolling as we generally know it by, but a looped scrolling, as the name suggests.
aleksandrm··on PayPal Redirects Charitable Contributions Without Consent, Lawsuit Says
PayPal is a nightmarish company. I've lost ~3000 USD to PayPal when I was doing small business back in early 2000s. Their "buyer first" policy had screwed us big time, even though we have provided all the documentation to contest the bogus claims. PayPal froze our money, and terrorized me for a whole year with collections agencies. It was awful. I am out of 3K dollars, and I have stopped using PayPal since.
aleksandrm··on This is what makes bicyclists blow through red lights
> I’ve got momentum, I don’t feel like stopping, I’m running late.

This is what baffles me the most. The same could be said for cars, not to mention that every red light/stop sign stop-and-go wastes a lot more fuel/creates more pollution. This is a ridiculous excuse for cyclists.

aleksandrm··on PayPal penalised for 'deceptive' practices
Agreed, $25M is nothing and they should be slapped with a much higher penalty. PayPal is the scummiest company on Earth. A buyer opened a dispute with them, and PayPal robbed me of $2500, tried fighting them for 2 years but eventually gave up.
aleksandrm··on Writing C in Cython
Cylons write in Cython.
aleksandrm··on Why Did Crowd Flee Shanghai Subway After Foreigner Fainted?
There is a great award-winning short film (11 minutes) about this, based on a true story, Bus 44[1].

aleksandrm··on Firefox 30.0
Yes, I have HTTPS Everywhere installed. I will disable SSL Observatory and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.
aleksandrm··on Firefox 30.0
I love Firefox, but since I upgraded from 28 to 29, it has been crashing for me on Win 7 on a daily basis. Looking in about:crashes I have close to 30 crashes reported. The moment I upgraded to 30, it crashed. sigh
