aleksandrm··on Cloudflare Turnstile requiring fingerprintable WebGL
What gave you the impression that Cloudflare were the good guys?
aleksandrm··on Show HN: Agent.email – sign up via curl, claim with a human OTP
Why is this even funded?
aleksandrm··on UK government replaces Palantir software with internally-built refugee system
Didn't they just give Palantir their NHS patient data? https://cybernews.com/tech/palantir-nhs-patient-data/
aleksandrm··on The Cult of Vibe Coding Is Insane
Do we know if the original code was vibe coded? It's like chicken and an egg dilemma.
aleksandrm··on ATMs didn’t kill bank teller jobs, but the iPhone did
A personal banker and a bank teller are not the same thing. I think you're conflating or confusing two different professions.
aleksandrm··on I verified my LinkedIn identity. Here's what I handed over
LinkedIn is no longer a "professional network". I'm actually considering DELETING my account.
aleksandrm··on Our approach to age prediction
"Am I pregante"
aleksandrm··on Our approach to age prediction
It's nonsense and doesn't work. They have "age predicted" my account a couple of months back saying I'm under 18, while I'm a man in my 40s who uses ChatGPT for mostly work related stuff, and nothing that would indicate that it's someone under 18. So now they are asking for a government ID to prove it. Yeah, no thanks.
aleksandrm··on AI is a business model stress test
I can already do the same with plain CSS. How is this better?
aleksandrm··on Show HN: WebTiles – create a tiny 250x250 website with neighbors around you
How does it differ from hundreds of other ideas and websites like this?
aleksandrm··on So, you’ve hit an age gate. What now?
OpenAI uses AI to scan your ChatGPT conversations to determine your age. And even though I've been using ChatGPT for mostly work-related stuff, it has identified me, a man in my 40s, as under 18 and demanded government ID to prove my age. No thank you.
aleksandrm··on AI is a business model stress test
What were the benefits that you felt instantly? I still don't feel anything and would prefer plain CSS over Tailwind any day.
aleksandrm··on Distributed Denial of Secrets
Wikileaks v2?
aleksandrm··on A super fast website using Cloudflare workers
Is this real?
aleksandrm··on Exe.dev
Thanks, I couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong. The front page is just... not helpful. Given the amount of pushbash how everyone feels about this, it should be removed from HN frontpage!
aleksandrm··on HTTP Caching, a Refresher
This is nothing new and doesn't add anything new to the topic, so am I the only that thinks this is just an attempt at boosting their SEO through HN?
aleksandrm··on How getting richer made teenagers less free
I'm sorry, but this is a bullshit article.
aleksandrm··on Environment variables are a legacy mess: Let's dive deep into them
That was a hard to read font.
aleksandrm··on ICQ will stop working from June 26
Correct, mIRC is just one of many clients for an IRC protocol.
aleksandrm··on Show HN: Fake or real? Try our AI image detector
I fed it a bunch of real images and it failed on all of them.
aleksandrm··on Don't use Discord as your Q&A forum
New World, an MMORPG game by Amazon Game Studios, have recently shut down their forums and migrated completely to Discord. It has been a complete disaster, including all the forum posts that show up in Google search are now just 404. Reporting bugs is a crap shoot into the void.
aleksandrm··on Svelte is surprisingly easy to learn
You're still mixing HTML and CSS with JS, which is way worse if you ask me.
aleksandrm··on Ask HN: Tell us about your project that's not done yet but you want feedback on
Costco Companion App, available on iOS and Android stores if you search for it.

Idea is to improve and enhance your Costco warehouse shopping experience, mainly:

- Provide platform to enable shoppers to review and rate products and for others to find said reviews. Costco and Sameday doesn't provide reviews, so we try to fill the gap.

- Recently we started showing very special Costco warehouse deals in our app, there's a certain magic to Costco prices, e.g. if something ends in .97 it is extremely discounted but it's never advertised otherwise so we try to bring more of these special deals to our users.

- We have more features and want to bridge Costco communities together.

But... feel like, something is missing still?

aleksandrm··on Adobe Firefly: AI Art Generator
A little bit too late to the market for a company of their size.
aleksandrm··on ‘Catch Me If You Can’ conman lied about his lifetime of lies
This has been known for years. Why are tabloid articles suddenly reposted here?
aleksandrm··on Signal is for everyone, and everyone is different
Same, and I can no longer recommend Signal to all my friends and family because SMS was the only feature that would make them consider it. Otherwise every one just uses WhatsApp.
aleksandrm··on Ain't it funny how the knight moves?
Look again. The queen doesn't take the knight at E8.
aleksandrm··on Migrating from Vue 2 to Svelte
I question this author and his reasoning. Extremely weak and uneducated reasons. Single brackets vs double brackets, really?
aleksandrm··on WhatsApp is more secure than iMessage: Mark Zuckerberg
Signal is dropping SMS support soon. It was one of the main features that I was able to convince my friends and family to use this app, a convenient all-in-one messaging app. Without it I'm not sure anymore, quite a baffling decision on their part.
aleksandrm··on USPS Forges Ahead with Gas-Powered Mail Trucks Despite EPA's Desire for EVs
Someone is probably pocketing from the deal. Always follow the money.
