aleatorisch··on DuckDB Doesn't Need Data to Be a Database
Thanks, appreciate the reply. I believe this should have been fixed by https://github.com/delta-incubator/delta-kernel-rs/pull/210.

I'm guessing you were reading from a table with a checkpoint :)

DuckDB unfortunately hasn't pulled in the latest changes just yet, but as soon as they update to include that fix, I expect your queries will work.

If the table is public, I'd be happy to check that kernel now supports reading it.

I'm curious what errors you were running into? Mind posting an issue in the repo, or here? Thanks!
aleatorisch··on But What's Up with That ¥?
Ironically there's a typo in his calling out of the typo. He meant to write: should be "%c>%c¥n" rather than "%c>%¥n".

The second c is missing in the screenshot.

This is an awesome idea. I ended up doing it without this tool and just using pulseaudio-ctl.

1. figure out the keycode for key you want to use. for me this was Scroll_Lock, so it looked like:

  keycode 78 (keysym 0xff14, Scroll_Lock)
2. Add the following to the i3 config:

  xset -r 78 # no repeat for scroll-lock
  pulseaudio-ctl mute-input yes # mute at startup
  bindsym Scroll_Lock exec pulseaudio-ctl mute-input no
  bindsym --release Scroll_Lock exec pulseaudio-ctl mute-input yes

A surprising number of people commenting that this is an overreaction. I suggest reading this[1] and this[2] before you're so hasty to dismiss this. This is absolutely the right move (and if anything should have been done sooner).

Also luckily the comment ranking here seems to mean your peers disagree with you.

Cool project, wish I could try it!

Given that it's Electron, is there a reason you don't have a Linux version?

Let's be clear, they have no arguments that rely on any sort of rational discourse. No "strategy", or clever approach to the problem will convince them they are wrong.

I'm honestly not sure you're actually arguing in good faith here. You've offered no path that would address the issue other than hand waving and saying "fighting will make it worse", and "we should let it run its course". I'm saying that there is no "run its course", they aren't gonna just give up and go home if you stop fighting, and they aren't all gonna just die if measles either (thanks to the above mentioned herd immunity we all protect them with).

You say you've vaccinated your kids. Lucky you. Maybe realize you're privileged to have been able to do that and stop telling those less fortunate they'll just have to let their loved ones die from preventable diseases lest we make a bunch of crackpot conspiracy theorists' "arguments more plausible".

> Moving closer and closer to forced vaccinations for everyone who can be vaccinated?

YES!

> This will only feed their discourse.

I don't care. Should we kowtow to every group with "discourse"?

> I think we disagree on the nature of the perceived threat.

I think they are both a major threat. We disagree that the anti-vax movement will "run its course". Ignoring them isn't going to make them go away. We can't just bury our heads in the sand and pretend it's not harmful to have a bunch of un-vaxinated people out there.

We already give you a fine if you don't wear a seat-belt, smoke indoors, have glass containers in public places, and so on. You may disagree with all these regulations on some libertarian(ish) ground, but then we have a fundamental disagreement about when your freedom infringes on my right to be safe, and your right to be a burden on the state.

In short, not getting vaccinated is a public health risk, and the government has a responsibility to protect its citizens by enforcing as high a vaccination rate as is reasonably possible.

Umm, because this so called "control group" you're so casually dismissing also includes infants and individuals with various conditions [0].

Those people rely on herd immunity to not get sick, and we shouldn't allow crazy anti-vaxxers to endanger them.

Nice, I wondered if someone had done this. One request I have for the app would be the ability to select a local folder and have the app cycle though all the pictures in it. Being able to change the picture more often (like every 10 minutes) would be great too.

Awesome app overall though!

Seems to have no ability to scroll with the keyboard. That would be a major impediment to me using it.
