alborzmassah··on Matrix and Riot Confirmed as the Basis for France’s Secure Instant Messenger App
Why was Telegram and WhatsApp installation not possible before?
alborzmassah··on There was an attack against the Proton network
Why would someone want to take down protonmail..?
alborzmassah··on Signal Foundation
I don’t think I feel good about this. The comments are nice and seem true, but whenever there is so much money involved, even a non profit label I would be suspicious. Are all funding and allocations going to be made public for the organization? People always seem to have a hidden self interest, especially when money is involved.
alborzmassah··on Picture of a Single Atom Wins Science Photo Contest
How is this possible? For an atom to stand out, are all the atoms around the area cleared out using electricity so it’s pure, empty space? Is that possible? Also, as other people mentioned, I imagined atoms to be MUCH smaller in scale than anything like what seems to be visible here.
alborzmassah··on How a Low-Level Apple Employee Leaked Some of the iPhone's Most Sensitive Code
Allowing people to send code to friends within jailbreak community and expecting no leak? Did I read that correctly?
alborzmassah··on The Effects of Computer Use on Eye Health and Vision (1997) [pdf]
Been using computers for 21 years. I got some floaters when I was a teenager, but still 20/20!
alborzmassah··on Ask HN: Why you contribute or don't contribute to open source?
Why?
alborzmassah··on Bitcoin exchange Youbit shuts after second hack attack
Should I be worried about having my cryptocurrency assets on an exchange?
alborzmassah··on Bitcoin mining and energy consumption
Is this not the price paid for the trust, security, and utility that bitcoin brings? I don’t hear alternatives being suggested.
alborzmassah··on Why Are Some Countries Rich and Others Poor?
Why don't countries just merge or join each other? Doesn't all the division simply create more fear and us VS them.
alborzmassah··on It’s Okay to “Forget” What You Read
Honestly, this makes sense to me too, but what scientific evidence is there of reading creating/affecting mental models for people? The article seemed like a lot of opinion, but not much evidence.

When I listen to audiobooks or read for personal development or business, I make an effort to apply things I've learned from the books to derive value.
