albertojacini··on Ask HN: What do you do while your agent works?
Sometimes I work out.
albertojacini··on A 37-year-old wanting to learn computer science
I started when I was 34, for the same motivations that you describe. It become my profession and my hobby. I'm now 47 and I'm still enjoying the ride a lot.
albertojacini··on Writing Code Was Never the Bottleneck
The title says it all
albertojacini··on IMG_0001
Watching a cat failing to open a jar, I noticed that my brain expects cats to succeed at all they do.
albertojacini··on 'Thirsty' ChatGPT uses four times more water than previously thought
Can be true, but it applies to Disneyland as well.
albertojacini··on Video reveals progress of 170-km-long skyscraper through Saudi desert
Fear not. It's zero emissions ;)
albertojacini··on Ask HN: Best resources to learn django in 2017?
What helped me the most from the basics to being a Django professional has been Two Scoops of Django. The best about this book is that is authoritatively opinionated about which are the best practices in the Django world. This really helps you not to get lost. albertojacini··on Machine Learning in a Year
I completely agree. It was also very well balanced between theory and practice.
albertojacini··on “Eat, sleep, code, repeat” is such bullshit
> horrifying

is definitively too much. And also the interpretation is too strict. Why being outraged for something like this?

albertojacini··on The slow death of purposeless walking (2014)
Walking helps me in solving programming issues.

When I find myself stuck and my mind starts to loop around, I need to force myself to take a purposeless walk, around my office's block or little more. During the walk I stop thinking about the problem for a while and then resume from a new angle. It normally works very well.

albertojacini··on Being a Developer After 40
It wouldn't have been smart either. What one should charge is what one can charge. And it's unrelated to what the cost of living is in a given country.
albertojacini··on Open-Source Recycling
No
albertojacini··on Open-Source Recycling
I'm obsessed with not throwing away things and really appreciate a cool project like this. But nonetheless, I would like to emphasize that recycling is no substitute for not producing and not consuming plastic, which is by far the best way to fight what is depicted in the Why? section!
