albertkoz··on Ask HN: Which vintage computers do you find interesting?
Local ads websites & facebook groups. More likely to get something cheap. Ebay like sites are usually full of traders, that resell them for profit.

I bought mine real C64 cheaper than Mini. I live in central Europe and you can grab c64 here with cables etc. for around $40-50.
albertkoz··on Hacker News in the Style of Teletext
Teletext is still popular in the some European countries. e.g. in prisons to send one way messages from families. For small amount of money you can buy an ad in the teletext and most of the prisoners here got access to the tv.

Thanks! I acquired my first vintage Mac couple months ago (two Macintosh Classic) and I was very surprised with the machines. I think I need to look more into what was possible. Thank you for the ideas, I will definitely look into getting another early Mac computer.

I used to live in the UK for couple of years and I never heard of BBC before I living there. Right now I am hunting for Acorn and BBC and I am planning on flying to the UK just to pick them up. It's funny how these systems were so big, however only on the domestic market.

I would love to get SGI but in the country I live in, it's almost imposible, same as SUN and NeXT.

I got classic Mac, unfortunately I find it quite boring. I would love to get NeXt but these are really expensive nowadays.

I got my first computer in the early 90's, so for the very same reason vintage computers fascinate me. I started with C64 as it's cheap and got amazing community around. To this day, couple of brand new games are released every year. Mine got wifi card and SD card reader. I actually got already 3 different commodore64 models, as I couldn't decide which one I like the most. Amigas are great, but they also are getting expensive. I bought my c64 for 50 Euro with the cables etc.

Amstrad is definitely one of the machines I want to buy at some point. I really like the design.
albertkoz··on GitHub Copilot
Next step will be AI to approve the code, because. if someone is producing 5k LOC a day there are people who need to read & approve this code...
albertkoz··on Why use old computers and operating systems?
I just bought Macintosh Classic. I want to do some retro programming at some point using old hardware & software.
albertkoz··on Twitter Will Allow Employees to Work at Home Forever
The thing I miss the most while WFH is the whiteboard conversations. It's nice to be able to drag your colleagues for quick tech discussion and go back to work. Pen is much faster than drawing diagrams online.
albertkoz··on Ask HN: What are your favorite developer-efficiency tips?
Mildly off-topic but I find that exercising in the morning or during lunch break gives me the biggest efficiency boost ever.
albertkoz··on Ed Catmull and Pat Hanrahan Win Turing Award
Same for me... I just have finished the book and found it very very inspiring until I saw the posts here.
albertkoz··on Ask HN: How did you find your co-founder?
In that case you might get advisors. Many/most of the startups get advisors, people that get some small % of the shares (usually under 2%) to bounce the ideas with.

If you let co-founder in you are not only sharing % of the company but also vision. Getting co-founder is like getting married, if you struggle to find someone you know and trust maybe it's better to stick with advisor for now.

albertkoz··on I Can't Do Anything for Fun Anymore; Every Hobby Is an Attempt to Make Money
I think it's quite ironic that even below that short note I can see an ad.
albertkoz··on Ask HN: Which books have made you introspect?
Antifragile by Nassim Taleb - This book made me rethink a lot of the things in my life.
