Don't worry, OP, you're in no danger of having "intelligence without empathy" as the first part isn't satisfied
AI builders ship software that works for their users.
In this case, they were quite clearly NOT doing that - it wasn't WORKING! To see where it slipped, where logic that looked correct
on paper failed under real use cases.
That’s vibe coding in its purest form.
That's MANUAL TESTING in its purest form. There's no "coding" at all.The article is right about one thing: managers have been doing one thing and claiming to do another for a long long time
followed immediately by
"the country will have to raise its absurdly low retirement age"
Such a pathetic argument that it doesn't even get an author name attached

In precisely the same sense that packing peanuts made from corn are "food-based"AI slop goes in the slop bucket, which is Zenodo.

The built-in software is still a work-in-progress (eg the music player hasn't got FOLDER support yet!) but you can find e-Ink-friendly apps on repos like F-Droid.
Some companies include the cost of free users within it, while others do not.
"If you ignore the costs of all the free stuff we give away, we're TOTALLY PROFITABLE! Give us moar money to throw on the pyre!"This is like saying "the BASIC interpreter is conscious!!!!!" after writing
10 PRINT "I AM CONSCIOUS"
20 GOTO 10If they hoarded GPUs, they'd then need to figure out how to make "winning AI" produce money - which nobody has done yet. In the meantime, they'd need additional outside money to keep running operations.
They already face plenty of risk (eg long payoff times for capital investments in fabs etc), why would they take on more?
