akomtu··on On social reality in China
The corrupting influence of communism. CCP replaced human moral code with something demonic, and everything else followed.
akomtu··on Fertility rate dropped over 50% within 10 years in Argentina
Look up the ARS/USD exchange rate: 8x drop since 2016. USD itself has lost 50% of its value since then.
akomtu··on AI safety is mostly a sex cult
Oh my, where did you get this from? I happen to know both. The founder of Scientology was a scientist who started with a somewhat decent idea, got popular in the US, but his fame passed quickly. He really craved for that fame, though, so he changed his teaching into some cultist stuff, paired with some sketchy lord and proceeded with demon invocations. His main book is Dianetics, and his followers are very vindictive to those who leave the cult.

Falun Dafa, on the other hand, is more like a Buddhist discipline. You are free to meditate in a park if you feel like it, you are free to go if you don't. There is no organisation, no one will know your name. Its main book is Zhuan Falun, which you could read to make your own opinion, rather than repeating someone's talking points. CCP hunts Falun Gong because its founder refused to become a part of CCP. You can read this story on Wikipedia. The situation is similar to the early days of Christianity when Nero burned christians alive and wanted to eradicate their faith. The irony is that today the Roman Empire has reduced to the city of Vatican which is the temple of Christianity. CCP will fall similarly.

As for organs extraction... well, read about the Sujiatun Concentration Camp. CCP sends there young Falun Gong followers and sells their organs to high rank officials. Demonic creativity. But what did you expect from a communist regime?

akomtu··on AI safety is mostly a sex cult
Scientology is an evil cult, while Falun Gong is more like Buddhism. You can't really compare them.
akomtu··on A warning about 'model welfare'
AI, in its current form, is 100% deterministic. You can create an exact copy of it, roll back its state and so on. There is no room for consciousness there. An actual lifeform isn't predictable.
akomtu··on A warning about 'model welfare'
The universe is material of course, the soul is made of matter, thoughts are made of matter and so on. The question is what kind of matter? Looking at the brain, we won't find any intelligence in the motion of its cells. They mostly stay in place. If we go one level deeper, we'll see molecules, and their motion reveals something more interesting: various neurochemical reactions. Yet, there is no intelligence at that level either. Going one more level deeper we'll find electrons and that's where things become somewhat intelligent. At the current level of science, we can't see what makes electrons move, but if we could, we would discover finer and finer forms of matter until we would reach an end. That finest level of matter for that particular person we would call his soul. I think it's the presence of those higher imperceptible levels of matter that creates consciousness. If it all stopped at the cellular or molecular level, we would be like complex mechanical watches, not very different from LLMs.
akomtu··on I'm sorry, you're not going to die from an AI-engineered supervirus
A morally bankrupt scientist would give AI the hands it needs. Or a military general who thinks he must use AI and any means possible to win, because his enemy may use AI first.
akomtu··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
China is still under a communist regime, and we know how it makes society harmonious: by chopping everyone's fingers to equal length.
akomtu··on What will our economic future look like?
I noticed that LLMs prevent you from thinking on your own, or at least try to, by injecting their "helpful" suggestions when you need some idle time to think. On Amazon, for example, I was about to find something when their chatbot distracted me with its suggestions I didn't ask for.
akomtu··on The turbulent AI era is here
We'll probably see the explanation of the Fermi paradox.
akomtu··on Serve Markdown to AI Agents with Accept Headers
This will be used to serve SEO slop. LLMs are already used as search engines and businesses really want to outrank competition by any means possible.
akomtu··on A complex structure on S^6 [pdf]
This is a big pile of AI slop. I doubt anyone will ever read it.
akomtu··on Double-double: 31 digits of precision without leaving the FPU
Reads like AI slop. It circles around the point, uses C# examples while talking about FPU, duplicates examples and so on.
akomtu··on AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read)
AI is more or less a religion right now in the corporate world. Speaking against AI amounts to heresy.
akomtu··on Anthropic CEO says the way for AI to win over the public is to cure cancer
To conjure fire from the skies, in other words. But the way technology works is it solves a problem by introducing other problems, and if they plan to fix cancer by messing with DNA, guess what side effects there will be.
akomtu··on Could a computer scientist build a brain?
DNA is more like a barcode.
akomtu··on AI Can Now Design Functional Viruses. Should We Worry?
I think of it as a silicone-based alien lifeform.
akomtu··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?
Alien Slop Intelligence
akomtu··on Nashville uses eminent domain to block data center near zoo
I don't understand how the abundance of AI datacenters translates into wellbeing of common folk. Right now AI is a net negative for the people.
akomtu··on My personal AI benchmark: “Generate an SVG of a frog with a Habsburg jaw”
Image -> loose text description -> SVG. Did you notice that ChatGPT writes a verbose description of the image first?
akomtu··on Codex Security
I think his point is that AI is really good at finding vulnerabilities.
akomtu··on Businesses with ugly AI menu redesigns
I think AI pictures have this soulless vibe because they are creations of Frankenstein: many pieces of other pictures stitched together in a sloppy manner. A human-made picture, even a bad one, is made by outlining an idea and the presence if this idea behind a picture is what gives it a soul, figuratively speaking.
akomtu··on How we measured AI writing across arXiv, and where the measurement breaks
IMO, cognitive athrophy is the point. If humans become dependent on AI, those corporations will get enough leverage to change laws in their favor. For example, people don't want a huge data center in the middle of their city, but the corporations will say that the same people can't do anything without AI powered by this data center. That's why I think that making humans deficient and dependent on AI is the entire point.
akomtu··on Guerrilla London bus ads mock Kylie Jenner’s Meta glasses campaign
The financial motive must be capturing video data for AI training. Moreover, this data won't be entirely passive: the glasses can tell the user to do something and then observe how the video feed changes.

The more nefarious motive is to inject a layer of AI between humans and nature.

akomtu··on Are we offloading too much of our thinking to AI?
This looks like the Divinity Machine from Doom.
akomtu··on Modern decor may be straining people's brains
Modern design, especially the modern architecture, is meant to simplify people's thinking, make it bland and uniform. Look at the gray cubism around you: does it inspire any creativity? Same for interior design, cars and even the so called modern art.
akomtu··on I think I have LLM burnout
LLMs poison your mind. The more AI slop you read, the more your mind turns into something like slop. This isn't very different from the idea that the food you eat is what your body is made of.
akomtu··on GPT‑Live
From one perspective, AI serves as a wedge that separates those who want human culture from those who want machine culture.
akomtu··on For first time, a cell built from scratch grows and divides
Scientists seem really busy these days creating synthetic life: advances in AI, human eggs from stem cells and now this - synthetic cells. I somehow feel they are inspired by the Alien movies.
akomtu··on Scientists find molecular-level evidence for two structures in liquid water
> Much of the evidence for the LLPT has therefore come from computational studies.

So it's just a numerical simulation with some ML techniques?
