ajolly··on How Delhi cut electricity loss from 50 to 5 percent
Thank you for giving shelter. I had family murdered in 1984. Thankfully my parents were in the US at the time, and when I was born shortly after they decided to get their green cards and stay in the US, to make it safer for me.

Reading about Operation Blue Star was terrifying.

No, Google family now shares limits across all your accounts.
ajolly··on JetKVM Mini
terived on Amazon. they're surprisingly awesome if you don't want to go with level one text solution. I've tried a few of their devices.

I spent a bunch of time trying out different KVMs and ran into gachas with most of them.

ajolly··on JetKVM Mini
FYI I solved that by changing the monitor - gigabyte m28u/m32u, built in KVM they run at 144 hertz. Only downside is that doesn't work easily if you want multi-monitor KVM.

Resmed 10 series are super hackable. Don't get a 11 The 11 is just a cost saving revision. Masks are very individual but a lot of providers will do free exchanges.

You know pebble is back? Also Old Pebbles still work perfectly and are supported by the latest software stack.
ajolly··on The 49MB web page
This! I need some better browser extensions to just start suspending JavaScript after the pages been in the background for a period of time.

I've tried all of the auto discard type extensions but yeah back on CPU usage is crazy

What's the best in-ear ANC you found? I usually stick with over the ear and bose still has the best that I've tried compared to Apple or Sony

Explain the no glasses part to me? I read the study you linked but in there they used opaque glasses.
ajolly··on The struggle of resizing windows on macOS Tahoe
G604s are pretty annoying to open up but if you don't want to solder on eBay they have full replacement boards that you can just drop in that have new switches already soldered in there for you.
ajolly··on The struggle of resizing windows on macOS Tahoe
They have changed the default focus lock timeout behavior over the years, but you can still very easily tweak it to whatever you want
ajolly··on The struggle of resizing windows on macOS Tahoe
You want to change the ForegroundLockTimeout registry key or set it via power shell.

by default if you haven't typed anything for a little bit Windows allows an application to steal focus. If you change that value you can prevent windows from ever stealing focus or change how long they have to wait before they're allowed to.

Windows has a ton of little settings you can tweak like this if it's not working quite how you like it.

I personally tweak it the other way to allow a window to pop up and still focus sooner .

If you set up via PowerShell you can do it more dynamically and if you're doing it via the API there's behavior in there too force a lock

Check/change your ForegroundLockTimeout registry value.

Change the ForegroundLockTimeout registry setting to increase the timeout, or you can set it to the max integer value to never let the app steal the focus.

ajolly··on The best things and stuff of 2025
I love bed heating/chilling systems (eight sleep, chilipad, etc) Otherwise I'd go to bed and be cold so I'd put a blanket or two on then wake up being too hot kick it off and repeat.
ajolly··on OpenSCAD is kinda neat
Yeah you definitely want to use the dev builds for openscad
ajolly··on Pebble Index 01 – External memory for your brain
The biggest downside is I don't think you can directly connect to the pebble for that it'll have to go through the phone. One advantage of the index if it doesn't rely on your phone to be available right then
ajolly··on Pebble Index 01 – External memory for your brain
Right now I've got it set where I hold down a button on my pebble and it post it to my Trello but with Advent to LLMS I'm planning on linking it to have that do some of the review process
ajolly··on Pebble Index 01 – External memory for your brain
Yeah I pre-ordered but for what it's worth I've already been doing this with my pebble for close to a decade but the ring lets me trigger it via a single hand

The g604 has PCBs pre-made with better replacement switches that you can snag on eBay
ajolly··on Show HN: Whispering – Open-source, local-first dictation you can trust
The killer feature I'm still looking for is software that will do voice to text, but insert the text into the text box that was active when I started talking, not ended talking.

That way I could click on a text box start talking but have the rest of my brain switch to doing a second task.

ajolly··on What went wrong inside recalled Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks?
As an aside, pretty much all the g604 is will end up with double click reliability issues or an inability to hold down the mouse button and drag. But you can easily replace the switches or there's vendors on eBay and AliExpress that I'll sell you a circuit board with the switches pre-soldered for replacement.

Logitech no longer makes the g604 :(

Long tail can be flaky, but in practice as long as you buy devices that are local first IE don't need to access the cloud you'll be fine.
