Unfortunately not available in my country. I don’t get why limit countries, you can allow download and say it only covers USA news
ajimix··on Ask HN: How do you keep track of “Log in with” accounts
This is the only comment that actually answers the question without giving opinions about “Log in with”

And it’s a very good suggestion. I do something similar, but instead of using a note, I just write it in the username field

ajimix··on Launch HN: Metriport (YC S22) – Open-source API for healthcare data exchange
Very sad to see this company greedy move. From an excellent unique B2C app which could have got an excellent future, to a B2B API. Worst thing is that they ignored the loyal users and they didn’t say anything about the future of the app or cared about the people who already paid
ajimix··on Hetzner GEX44 with Nvidia GPU
Try to send some big amount of money internationally and you will see why crypto is the future. With regular banks it takes days, weeks and many times months due to intermediate banks, AML questions, reviews, etc and have very high costs associated for simple transfers of money hardly earned.

With cryptocurrencies it takes seconds or minutes and no questions asked with very low fees

ajimix··on How different languages laugh online
They didn’t mention that in Spain most people use xD which is the emoticon of laughing in its written version. It can be used in different capitalizations: xD XD xd
ajimix··on Show HN: 99% cheaper international business transfers – fixed fee, real rate
To answer your question, I’m waiting for you to enable the service outside of Europe. Also I wonder if your service works well with businesses sending several millions per month or the KYC nightmare will start then. It’s unfortunate how banks never want to support big businesses sending big transactions around the world
ajimix··on Just normal web things
Why bank websites remove the ability to paste? You have already copied the text when you realize you cannot paste. So what is the point? Writing things by hand are prone to errors and if your clipboard is poisoned you have already copied the stuff by the time you realize you cannot paste…
ajimix··on Wearable device that records your voice for legal defense
I've been thinking about this idea for years, both audio and/or video. But no company seems to be interested on this. All small recorders I can find have short duration batteries and store the contents on the device so you have to keep manually offloading the files every X hours.

My idea was not from a legal aspect, but more from a memory aspect where you can easily recover things you have said, heard or seen from the past

ajimix··on Tell HN: Cloudflare and Scaleway have a peering issue
We are also affected by this since Sunday. All our sites hosted in scaleway with Cloudflare are very slow to load (sometimes up to 30 seconds) and we get back 520 errors every now and then.
ajimix··on Sending spammers to password purgatory
You are lucky. I haven’t been able to use Ticketmaster for 2 years because all IPs from my ISP are blocked as bots. Contacted their support on Twitter and they told me the only way to use their site is to change my ISP as even the VPNs I tried are blocked. Looks like they have enough money to have the luxury to block one of the biggest ISP where I live
ajimix··on Ask HN: Is ProductHunt Worth It?
Been in product hunt since it was invite only beta. Things have changed a lot. In the beginning it was a community about hunting great products and nice discoveries.

Nowadays is about paying hunters with a lot of followers to post your products and asking all your network to upvote your product to brag about how you made it to top X of Product Hunt.

The posting about nice products of the internet and discovering them is now gone. If you try to publish something because you found it online and want to share it with the community, but you don’t have a network of people to “fakely” upvote it, the product will be hidden at the bottom and nobody will see it.

Discovery and community are gone.

ajimix··on Twilio blocked our account and with it hundreds of our customers [resolved]
We had the same problem some months ago with Mailgun. They blocked our account after many years using them without apparent reason or prior notice and took them 2 days to unblock it, leaving our thousands of clients stranded without receiving any of our transactional emails.

Lesson learnt, always keep a backup for crucial services and move away from Mailgun

ajimix··on Show HN: Beeper – All Your Chats in One App
why login with Google and not regular email?
ajimix··on Show HN: DevUtils.app – Developer Utilities for macOS
JS and HTML beautifier please!
ajimix··on Ad Fraud on LinkedIn
it's pretty easy to click on competitors ads with bots to run out competitors credit and then run your ads for the rest of the day for cheap prices. But the same happens with Google adwords. I guess they don't have any way to prevent it
ajimix··on Ask HN: A way to adblock “we're using cookies” popups?
Contact the EU and tell them to remove that non-sense rule as it makes the internet waste time clicking annoying things that nobody reads or cares.
ajimix··on Ask HN: Slack Alternatives?
Telegram works great. Free, privacy friendly, you can create channels (groups), supports bots, super fast with native apps, unlimited cloud storage, unlimited search history and more.

We've been using it for years in our company with excellent results

ajimix··on Ask HN: Why Ruby doesn’t know how to do maths?
thanks for the clear explanation. It's strange to me as a newbie in ruby that this can happen and I think that can lead to errors if you don't take that into account when doing calculations with numbers... Good to know
ajimix··on Show HN: Mapipedia
Hello David,

Very interesting project. If you improve the design to something more modern it will attract many people. But still, I found it very interesting and learned some new things by checking the average life expectancy :)

ajimix··on Launch HN: DevFlight (YC W19) – Helping open-source maintainers make money
Is there a way for companies to pay maintainers in exchange of some kind of promotion? Like logo in readme or something like that?
ajimix··on Mapping and visualization
what is the main purpose of it? they are beautiful but maybe would be a good idea to sell prints of them
ajimix··on NetSurf Web Browser
must be that it's running chrome as the engine lol
ajimix··on Ask HN: What are best tools for web scraping?
I can't tell, I haven't scraped any page with infinite scrolling yet
ajimix··on Ask HN: What are best tools for web scraping?
I’m crawling around 80-120M per month and the price for me fits my needs. But I suggest that you contact them if you have special needs or requirements.

Also you have to consider the amount of work, time and money that you will save by not maintaining your own system to avoid blocks and bans from the websites you are trying to crawl. With them you just call an API endpoint and you don't have to care about all that

ajimix··on Ask HN: What are best tools for web scraping?
check what I've just answered to @altareq :)
ajimix··on Ask HN: What are best tools for web scraping?
I've been using it for around 3-4 months with different sites. For linkedin it's been a bit more than 2 months. They are a good startup and they've been improving a lot their services. They only count successful requests so you don't have to worry about fails. If you get a bigger package they will raise your limits I guess. But I suggest that you contact them directly
ajimix··on Ask HN: What are best tools for web scraping?
yes I also had to contact them in the past to activate linkedin scraping. Now it's perfect without blocks :)
