ajhai··on FTX Appears to Have Stopped Processing Withdrawals, On-Chain Data Show
We put together a quick dashboard showing the drop in outgoing transactions https://makerdojo.io/public/dashboards/JO6U9whjdL8DRvefKMAoK...

[Disclaimer: I'm one of the co-founders of MakerDojo]

ajhai··on Searchcode: A source code search engine
Take a look at http://opengrok.github.io/OpenGrok/.
ajhai··on Just Landed
Haven't used the app myself but from reading what it does, one possible business model could be to land in deals with cab providers and allowing the user to book a cab when he is ready to leave.
ajhai··on WhatsApp confirms Google isn’t buying it
Whatsapp does store your messages. Try uninstalling the app, clear the app cache and reinstall it. You will be provided with an option to restore your chat history. I think what they don't do (at least promise) is not mine the chat conversations.

ajhai··on Before Launching Build Software People Use
" If you've been in the business for awhile.."

Not necessarily. If you are a regular visitor to HN, chances are that you'd come across similar content/gist more than once.

ajhai··on Facebook Is Recycling Your Likes To Promote Stories You've Never Seen
I'm not sure if this is the case with just me or something really changed got changed behind the scenes, I've been seeing less of these 'sponsored' stories lately since this news created buzz sometime back.
ajhai··on Ask HN: What are your big plans for 2013?
- Read less and write more (code, blog etc)

- Reduce development time and learn a bit or two about marketing

- Build a personal brand

ajhai··on Show HN: Zoko - Github Game Off 2012
Looks good. Instructions on how to play will help
ajhai··on Indian Railways, live on Google Maps
AFAIK, this is done by railyatri.in for Indian Railways
ajhai··on Show HN: Online C/C++ to assembly visualizer [Weekend Project]
Interesting project. As an improvement to the UI, you can consider adding syntax highlighting to the editor. Take a look at ACE editor (http://ace.ajax.org/).
ajhai··on Ask HN: How have you been celebrating programmer's day?
Trying to build a web crawler :-)
ajhai··on Introducing Pulse for Web
'Welcome message' is being popped up for every page I visit even for the pages that I'd already visited. A bug? Using chrome 21.0.1180.60 m on Windows 7

Edit: Issue resolved after reloading the page

ajhai··on ToS;DR — TL;DR for Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
I have been thinking about doing something similar for quite sometime now. Specifically I wanted to build a browser extension that highlights only the important parts of agreement. And the important points will in turn be decided by the community of users with the system keeping track of different versions of agreements and data of interest in it.
ajhai··on Manipulating App Store Reviews with Dark Patterns
I did exactly this in one of my android app. When the user successfully finishes the games, he will be given an option to either rate the game on Google play or retry the game again. If he fails to complete the game, he will just be allowed to retry/quit.
ajhai··on My Weekend Project: mailseal.de, a free temporary disposable email address.
This has been there around for quite sometime and is always my go to place when I'm in need of a disposable email address.
ajhai··on Indian ISP Blocks A Bunch Of Websites
They were all blocked on 23rd December and I think only for that day or may be two. Pretty old news actually ;)
ajhai··on Indian ISP Blocks A Bunch Of Websites
I'm one among those unlucky Reliance subscribers who were thrown this 'website blocked' page a couple of days back. The only reason I'm still with Reliance is that they don't have any data cap on the usage and has decent customer service.

Though they 'thought' they blocked these sites, I was able to access them by just removing 'www' from the url (Lucky me :)). FYI, they are using Netsweeper for filtering and the admin login page for the same is open to the public ;)

ajhai··on Show HN: My minimum viable side project
It reminded me of the assignment from Google's Python Class http://code.google.com/edu/languages/google-python-class/exe... :)
ajhai··on Please don't ask me for my password
I'm not sure if it's their policy or just the support person.
ajhai··on Rround
I have an idea for an app that needs to know user's physical location. I have planned on using HTML5 geolocation api to access user's location (Using HTML5 will save me effort in porting the app to various mobile devices). I was little skeptical on the accuracy of geolocation api. But looks like it is doing pretty good work, and I think I can go ahead with using geolocation for my application :)
ajhai··on Ask HN: A Well Funded Competitor Has Launched Before Me What Should I do?
Continue working and launch anyway.
ajhai··on Show HN: I open-sourced one of my projects that wasn't launched
I admit that the code is badly written. I'd mentioned that it was still in development when ditched. Please check config/connect.php where I'm taking care of magic quotes.
ajhai··on Developer open-sources 200+ hr project after client refuses to pay
I worked on a project around a year back (something like fetch.io, but a stripped version) and had a deal with the employer that we'll be sharing the profits that are made from the service. He invested on the servers and the premium accounts with various file hosting services. I took care of the entire application. But he scrapped that project even before the beta is launched saying that the operation costs are more and he see no point in launching the service and also partly because of the legal issues involved in downloading and distributing content from other services. After reading this post, I feel like I should open source the code that I'm not using now.
ajhai··on Ask HN: What has been your least profitable side/weekend project to date?
http://picmos.me - Online tool to create photo mosaics using your facebook photos. I'd spent considerable amount of time building it. I'm using linode 512 plan to host the application which is costing me ~$20 per month and the domain costed me ~$10. I enjoyed building the product but failed to attract users and haven't made a single penny yet.
ajhai··on Indian Government Blocks Leading File-Sharing Services
When I tried opening megaupload last night, I was thrown a blocked page by my ISP (Reliance). Upon checking the page source, I noticed an iframe content that redirected my request to the blocked message. Playing around with the iframe source, I found that my ISP is using Netsweeper Business software for blocking the file sharing services and the control panel is publicly accessible (http://ipaddress:8080/webadmin/start/ is the link for my ISPs netsweeper control panel login page. If you're lucky enough to crack the password, you can unblock any website you want ;)). I don't really think there is any need for blocking file sharing services in India and I feel that these are just the desperate attempts by the so called DoT and the govt. to say that they're doing something.
ajhai··on [dead]
I consider HN as 'news for hackers' rather 'news on hacking'.
ajhai··on Ask HN: Please review my project, picmos.me [Requires FB Connect]
Thanks for trying and your feedback :) Regarding getvouched.com, I like the concept and left a comment on your thread.
ajhai··on Ask HN: Review my Recruitment App and intro video.
I like the idea of building professional reputation and applying for jobs. I have some questions (probably dumb?) about the idea.

- How is getting vouched from your colleagues/friends different from Linkedin recommend feature

- Your rank will define how fit you are fit for any job posting. Correct me if I'm wrong, your rank will depend on the number of vouches(?) that you get. So, ultimately the person who is more active on the site will have a better rank and I feel this will destroy the whole purpose of legitimate reputation building

- "Vouched does not rely on Search to find jobs or candidates, instead it uses the knowledge of the social network" - It will be good if you can take leverage of any of the social graphs that the user already has (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin?)

ajhai··on National Informatics Centre (NIC INDIA) got hacked by Anonymous
While I'm glad that the world is watching everything that's happening in India right now, but the saddening fact remains that the Indian government won't give a damn about anonymous defacing it's websites. This action by anonymous will run in the media for a day or two and it will be forgotten by everyone after that.
