ajdoingnothing··on Windows 10 to be retired in 2025, as new OS unveils
I'm staying away from Windows as much as I can. The Windows 10 home edition is so bloated with nonsense applications (of which some can't be removed directly). Also, it is odd that there are still some icons and popups that have this old Vista (and sometimes even 98) style. So incredibly messy. The entire thing feels like an American commercial during the super bowl. Bleh. I truly believe that my hardware running a Linux OS gets to live a longer, healthier and happier life than if it was running a Windows OS.

Yes - but I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the "easily" part. I think that the physics are now pretty deterministic if you run a simulation using the exact same input/setup (on different clients). However, in reality you'd still have to synchronize the state of the objects every now and then (e.g., if a client didn't receive certain inputs on time).

ajdoingnothing··on Ask HN: What stack would you use to build a CRUD web app on the JVM today?
Spring Boot or Quarkus.

I still can't comprehend how the scientists and engineers managed to launch STS 1 (test flight) with two astronauts in 1981 - without doing a prior test launch with no astronauts inside (like SpaceX).. Absolutely incredible. I don't know what it is about the Shuttle, but the aesthetics are just really nice. The safety, of course, is a different question, but it still has a special place in my heart.
